Bill Belichick lives in football

Bill Belichick, a 73-year-old former NFL coach, was not interested in many of his achievements when he wrote his new book The Art of Victory (which will be published on May 6). “My title choice is, ‘How I do my job’ or ‘Lessons of football in my life’,” he said.

The result is not all, but what you call it -Some. He wrote that among other topics, he did not like the inspiring locker room speech at halftime. "Coach, have you never watched the movie?" I asked.

"I've seen 'them!" Berichick replied. "Yes, I'll say I'm not against them. I'm just saying, very few of what I've seen are worth mentioning, or changing the direction of the team or the game. Very few. Most are indeed strategic: what are they doing? What do we need to adapt to? It's really football: find out the problem, find out the solution, and then execute the plan to make it work. ”

As he wrote, he was not out of style or fame, but out of obvious motivation. “I’m trying to capture some ups and downs, preparation and dealing with star players and big moments,” he said.

"Do you want to give back to football and write something that football gives you?" I asked.

"Absolutely."

When I sat down with Belichick, you might be wondering what I was doing: What happened to his sweatshirt? "Well, you'll see I've been wearing it for a while," he said with a smile.

Belichick's signature look was ruined, often sleeveless, as part of his single focus.

Football has given him a lot in his 50-year career…has a second win in the NFL victory, including a record six Super Bowl titles by the head coach of the New England Patriots.

Asked what a championship win looks like, Belishik replied: "It feels like a lifelong achievement. It feels like you've been working hard all your life, honestly, when you win, you try to taste the moment because in your mind you don't know if I've ever been here again.'"

Like a father, like a son

Football is everything to Belichick. His father, Steve, was a beloved assistant to the Navy for more than three decades, and he ensured that. "As an only child, you know, I followed my dad," he said. "If he had been a firefighter, I might have been a firefighter. He was a football coach, so I wandered around him and I did everything he did."

I asked, "But what do you love? Because a lot of sons run in the other direction."

"Well, I think a big part of that is the respect and admiration they have for him; it seems to make a lot of sense."

But when young Billy went looking for his own coaching job, Dad had some advice: "You never make money. You need to go to business school, you need to get a job."

"Did he dissuade you?" I asked.

"He's real," Berichick replied.

But the NFL quickly realized that there was something special about the coach's kid, and by 2000, Patriots owner Robert Kraft hired Belichick to turn the team into a dynasty... He did, and that perhaps found the best quarterback of all time in the 199th draft pick in the 2000 draft.

I asked, "What did you see in Tom Brady, and everyone else missed him? He wasn't the fastest, he wasn't the strongest, he didn't let your athletic ability blow you away."

"Well, there are two things, really; he's accurate, he's a good decision-maker," Belichick said. Plus, "He gets better every day."

"As he is in better shape, you get better. Have you built each other?"

"Absolutely, yes."

"You just need to turn the pages"

A clearly distinctive area of media. Brady seemed relaxed in the spotlight. Belichick doesn't. "Well, I know they have a tough job," he said. "On the other hand, as a coach, you know, you have a job to do, too. Sometimes I can accommodate more easily. I admit.

It was also a big year for Belichick. He was named Head coach at the University of North Carolina, result A mess of Robert Kraft and Robert Kraft In 2024.

Even though they 24 years with the PatriotsKraft is not mentioned in Belichick's book. "He's not. Again, it's about my life lessons in football, and it's actually more about what I've experienced directly."

"He's not even confirming the part?"

“Real.”

“When Robert Kraft let go, do you feel you are treated with dignity and respect?”

"Yes, for us, it's a common decision," Belishik said.

"He said 'fired.'"

“It’s a common decision.”

"Creative Muse"

Another change for Belichick is Jordon Hudson, 24, whose "creative muse" is as he writes in the book. Jordan has been a constant presence in our interview.

I asked, "You have Jordan over there. Everyone in the world seems to be paying attention to this relationship. They have opinions about your private life. It has nothing to do with them, but they have something to do with it. How do you deal with it?"

"I never worry too much about other people's ideas," replied Berichick. "Just try to do what I'm best for me and the right thing."

When Belichick was asked how the two of them met, Hudson said: "He's not talking about this."

Although Hudson recently posted information about it on Instagram, including photos of Belichick as a fisherman, Hudson as a Mermaid. In another, Belichick balances Jordan on his feet. "Yes, so I'm on some of these social media platforms, but honestly, I don't follow."

What he does is not clicks or views, but touchdowns, (most importantly) win.

I asked, "You do seem to play a lot more than the rest of your life."

“I love football,” Berichick replied. "I love the whole process of it. It's hard to win, it's hard to beat other good coaches, great teams. I'm grateful. I'm grateful for the game. But the coach is fun and honestly, I don't feel like I've worked one day in my life."
