Big Thief is back with a new song "Uncomprehensible," the first release of the band's upcoming album. Double Infinitypassed 4AD on September 5th.
The “uncomprehensible” feels like an old-fashioned big thief, fanatic, shaky independent rock groove, although it pushes guitar feedback, trumpets, and even the occasional Sitar to the surface through the atmosphere. "Let me be naked and no one is there," Adrianne Lenker sang, "My lingerie/ununderstandable socks, shoes, shoes and stuff stuff stuff stuffed, let me be."
Double Infinity Will be Big Thief's first album in three years, after its famous 2022 album, Longxin Warm Mountain I believe in you. Last winter, the group recorded LPs for a three-week LP on Power Station Studio in New York City. Arrangements are usually made through improvisation, with minimal live recording of songs.
Big Thief's longtime collaborator Dom Monks produced, designed and mixed the album. The band’s record is joined by a series of collaborators composed of Alena Spanger, Caleb Michel, Hannah Cohen, Jon Nellen, Joshua Crumbly, June McDoom, Laraaji, Mikel Patrick Avery and Mikey Buishas.
Double Infinity Big Thief's first album was also a trio after bassist Max Oleartchik left in July 2024. Without sharing the specific reasons for the split, the band simply said: “This change is due to relationship reasons and respects each other in our hearts.”
Big Thief has announced a trip to North America to support Double Infinity. Their Smorersault Slide 360 Trek's first round begins on Channel 24 in Sacramento, California on September 17 and takes place on November 7 in White. Houston's Oak Hall Lawn.
Three years since the fall Longxin NuanshanBig Thief released some songs, including a studio version of the live favorite "Vampire Empire". In February of this year, they fell Distort relationshipsThis is a five-track EP that mainly contains previously unreleased songs Longxinshan (EP's close-up "Shadow" is a demonstration since 2018). Big Thief said they will donate most of the proceeds to the Los Angeles wildfires.
