Beths uses "metal" to prepare for North America headline tours

Beths returns with his glittering new single “Metal” and announces a North American headline journey.

The new tracks are radiating in jangle rock while singer Elizabeth Stokes sings, “So you need metal in your blood to keep yourself alive”, Jonathan Pearce’s bright 12-string guitar. "I think our arrangement ultimately embodies the crazy complexity of engine action," Stokes said in a statement. "There are a lot to do until there isn't." “Metal” is written in the band’s strict tour and some of Stokes’ health struggles. "In some ways, 'Metal' is a song about living and being in the human body," she said. "I've been keenly aware of this over the past few years, and I've always called it a "health journey." I feel like my body is a vehicle to date, but I can hardly control all the steps I have of myself. In life, I've been doing all the steps in the Rube Goldberg Machine in life, but here we've done a courtship here, I've done a courtship here, I've done a courtship here. Even though my body feels like a broken machine, I've still amazed at the complexity of this machine."

She continued: "I can hold this knowledge in one hand, but on the other hand, I can point out my reflections, like 'you're shit'. Or 'ugly'. or 'worthless'. I can reliably respond to any suggestions that I can achieve anything small with "no". These are the changes in the "short words" quoted in the song."

News of the single came after Stokes’ recent solo show in Largo, Los Angeles, featuring Courtney Barnett and Conchords’ Bret McKenzie. "Metal" marks a new era for the band, recently with the anti-. It was their first new music since 2023, when they gave up on the luxury version of their outstanding album Experts in the dying fieldreleased in the previous year.

After their trek through Europe, the band will kick off in Asheville, North Carolina on October 30.
