The Kentucky Derby offers one of the most unique betting opportunities in the sport.
One reason: The race is 1¼ miles long and there are up to 20 horses in the wild. Because all horses are already 3 years old, there is no distance yet. Combining it with a crowd of over 100,000 people in Churchill Downs, unexpected situations could happen.
Rich Strike was the last minute of 2022 due to scratches and won at 80-1 odds to win a $163.60 victory with a $2 bet. Mystik Dan was 18-1 shot, keeping his win last year, while Favened Fiercentes finished 12th. Mystik Dan paid $39.22 to win at $2.
Essentially, it is one of the few races that attract casual racing fans and the public attention, not just year-round fans. It's a race, with horse-based colors bets the same as those told by weeks of disability.
In digital terms: When Mystik Dan finished third in the Arkansas Derby last year, hitting Churchill Downs tickets, the total “Win/Place/Show” pool—the amount of money invested on Oaklawn Park’s bet was $2.4 million.
When he won the Kentucky Derby, the “winning/location/performance” pool was $104 million.
This means there may be some huge spending, especially if journalism is expected to be valued for the journalism that participates in the game.
This is what you need to know.

Bob Baffert returns after three years of ban
Trainer Bob Baffert won six campaigns for Kentucky Derby, including triple-winning American Pharoah and Justify, and was banned by Churchill Downs Inc. for three years and was recently restored. This comes after his intern Medina Mental was disqualified from the 2021 Derby victory after failing drug tests. Medina spirit died of a heart attack during a workout later that year.
Baffert has two horses in the race this year: the Citizen Bull, who has drawn the railroad (first place), which will be ridden by jockeys Martin Garcia and Rodriguez, who will break into the 4th post and will be ridden by Mike Smith. Expect both horses to be in front and set the pace.
Smith, 59, could be the oldest jockey to win the Kentucky Derby, surpassing Bill Shoemaker, who won the 54-year-old with Ferdinand in 1986.
Japanese derby competitors have been pushing
Over the past few years, Japanese horses have become serious competitors. The entry of the Kentucky Derby is based on points earned in the preparations for the event.
The Kentucky Derby's "Japan Road" was founded in 2017 and the horses shipped from these races improve every year. Last year, Japan-based Forever Young ranked third in the Kentucky Derby, far exceeding the length of Mystik Dan.
The two Japanese competitors this year are admiring Daytona and Luxor Cafes. Luxor Cafe, son of American pharaoh, won four games and scored an impressive five wins in Japan's Fokuri stock on March 29.
Luxor Cafe will debut in North America, so it's not sure what he's going to do with Churchill Downs' surface, but he certainly shows talent.
He has raced four times on the wet track - it rained on the derby day.
Participate in...the old guy's game?
Smith has the opportunity to be the oldest jockey in history, but there are also many experienced coaches in the field.
The oldest coach to win the Kentucky Derby is Art Sherman, who won the 77-year-old in 2014 with Chrome in California.
72-year-old coach Lonnie Briley from Louisiana is probably the most interesting story. Until the 2023 purchase of coal battles for $70,000 until he won the Level 2 Rebel bet at Oaklawn Park, but he will be a long-term photo of a game. Jockey Juan Vargas and owner Robbie Norman also participated in their first derby.
There are also Baffert, 72, and Bill Mott, 71, who ranked first after he won the highest security qualification at the Country House. Mott recently said that sovereignty represents his “best opportunity” to cross the wires in the first place.
Don't rule out John Shirreffs, who is looking for his first derby victory, as Longshot Giacomo won 50-1 in 2005, just before Shirreffs' 60th anniversary. Shirreffs (known for training Hall of Fame Mare Zenyatta) hopes to get Baeza to compete, but he will only attract him if there are scratches.
Compared to D. Wayne Lukas, none of this won the D. Wayne Lukas four times, while Belmont Stakes won the championship four times, and Preakness Stakes seven times (the most recent time last year). He will enter the United States this year and turn 90 in September.

We are only a few days away from the most exciting two minutes of the exercise. This is what the insider said as he approaches the release time:
news: A favorite in the game is checking all boxes. The best horses in terms of lineage, speed and distance - but the best horses in the derby aren't always winning. When posting, value will not bet on him.
Burnham Square: After his impressive performance on Bluegrass bet, he gets a lot of love from the obstacles. The derby has a lot of speed, which can stand out well for him from the extended pace. This value is at 12-1.
Bob Baffert's return: Baffert had two horses in Derby and won first place in the Wood Memorial Rodriguez.
Final gambit: My favorite vision. The horse has never been played on the dirt before, only the turf - but this game was good for him. He has the ability to get rid of speed and he has good training. This is the "wise" horse entering the derby.
Gold nuggets: This is the "rags to Riches" horse from Derby this year, as he bought him for only $2500. He finished second in Louisiana Derby and worked with coach Ethan West, who was only 32 years old.
Two horses are expected to start from scratch before mailing time (Grand and American Promise): This opened the door for Baeza to compete. He is the half-brother of the mage and Donoch, and if he goes in, he will ride in Baeza at defending champion Jockey Jockey Flavien Prat.

About the chart above: Beyer numbers are the rating system for speed during the game. Some people think that a horse needs at least one race, and they run 95 Beyer numbers or above in Derby are competitive. Many of these horses have races of more than 100 Bayer or higher.
Go in any way in this game. The first time someone who just wants to enjoy this experience? Coal Battle is a weak draft pick and sells for $2. If he is in first, second or third, it costs $6 and pays. Who doesn’t want to take root for a good story?
If you can’t find a reason to oppose popular journalism, then have faith and invest money in him to finish first. Journalism may like it, so bet $20.
Or, if you want to get further into Nitty Gritty, bet on "Top" an Exacta or Trifecta box with journalism, which means journalism in the "victory" position is the "key" and many horses below.
If you "key" a horse in your bet, it means you like it enough to make sure it wins. So you will put a horse (only that horse) in Exacta or Trifecta. The more horses you add, the more money you spend. Then, put your favorite horse in the second position and place any horses that may hit the board in third place.
Try journalism through Luxor Cafe, Sovereignty and Baeza (if he attracts) and add Burnham Square, Grand, Tiztastic, Tiztastic, Coal Battle, Sandman and Gold Chunk in the third place in Trifecta.
The total cost of $2 extenda is $12. Boxing News, the Luxor Cafe, Sovereignty and Baeza are priced at $24 and are priced at $2.
A 50-cent Trifecta box with a News Cafe, Sovereignty and the amount of Baeza and Luxor Cafe, Sovereignty, Baeza, Baeza, Burnham Square, Grande, Grande, Tiztastic, Tiztastic, Coal Battle, Sandman, Sandman, Final Gambit, Rodriguez, Rodriguez and Chunk in the third post are $30.
Want to beat your favorite? Luxor Cafe certainly has a lot of history to overcome, and he probably won't get the same spacious trip he's got along with him in such a big field. But his last game was too impressive to ignore. And don't ignore sovereignty, he can bring a good price to Mott. If you want to go this route, drop $10 or more of the "full" on either of them.

How do I play the derby? extsta box = 7, 8, 9
7. Luxor Cafe: The son of American pharaoh, who annihilated the game on the road to the derby in Japan. He is not as young as ever, he is just a turf lineage, but on Saturday he could still be a huge surprise.
8. news: It was the best horse on the court, and he got a great draw at 8 outposts. The eighth position has won nine winners since 1930, and he will have speed inside and outside, which will benefit him. He is Curlin's son and breeds at this distance.
9. Burnham Square: Very impressive in the Bluegrass bet, he gets a lot of love from the obstacles. The race is very fast and should benefit the horse and thus stand out from the extended pace.
