Tech company Pickford AI, the creator of Pickford, a platform for interactive AI storytelling, collaborates with Peabody and three-time Primetime Emmy Award-winning director and performance host Bernie Su (“Manual”, “Lizzie Bennet Diaries”) to develop and produce the “weak” of the AI experience.
"Whispers" is an AI-powered interactive thriller where viewers collaborate in real time, compete and strategy to collaborate with each other to identify killers. The audience eavesdrops on characters and shapes behavior and actions through direct inputs throughout the story.
Pickford's AI narrative engine allows for brand new storylines, results and characters, so no two stories are the same. Depending on the audience’s interaction, each character’s decision discovery and distortion comes from the audience’s interaction, thus making “a living, breathing narrative experience that provides surprises and suspense to every meeting in unprecedented ways.”
"Whispers" will debut in the fall along with the company's product releases.
SU is the creator behind many YouTube series, including Jane Austen’s adaptations “Lizzie Bennet Diaries” and “Emma Approved”, as well as Twitch’s Live Interactive Sci-Fi drama “Artificial,” the most rewarded Twitch original series ever. SU is currently directing AI animation features “Every creature” for Stair Studio AI.
"Bernie is a world-class storyteller with a track record of critically acclaimed interactive work, storytelling with our efforts to merge cutting-edge technology with boundary marketing," said Stephen Piron and Cole Clifford, co-founder of Pickford AI. "At Pickford AI, our mission is to change the way stories are told and experienced. Working with Bernie on 'Whispers' allows us to push the boundaries of AI-driven narrative in ways that audiences have never seen before."
Sue said working with Pickford AI is an opportunity to drive immersive and social storytelling possibilities. “Together, we’re not only telling a story — we’re creating a vibrant experience where the audience is the result, but their choices are really important, which raises the stakes for the next generation of entertainment capabilities,” he said.
Piron and Clifford will introduce Next Cannes at Pickford Technology on May 18, an innovation-centric program that is part of the Cannes film market. Audiences will make sneaky demonstrations through an experience called “first date,” a crowd-oriented AI story that adapts to audience reactions and improvisation. During the screening, the audience will whisper in the ears of the Daily, causing them to reach "the best date in life, or destroy them and watch their romantic dreams collapse."
