Barcelona sporting director Deco told ESPN he hopes Lamine Yamal will be able to sign a new contract and sign history at the club, which is part of the exciting youngsters.
Yamal has no contract in 2026, but ESPN has previously reported that he would extend his terms when he turns 18 in July.
The teenager has established himself as one of the best players in the world this season, and his performance has helped Barcelona win the Spanish Super Popular Science and Cup.
With the likes of Pau Cubarsí, Alejandro Balde and Pedri, he formed the spine of a young team, which is also on the verge of winning Laliga, Sunday's spine Classic Winning Real Madrid means they only need two points in their final three matches to finish the title.
When asked about Yamal's contract, Deco told ESPN: "Where players have to be happy, but I can't see a better place for Lamin."
"This boy grew up here; he came from here. This generation of players has the opportunity to make history. Putting themselves in their shoes, I want to be part of it here.
"I don't think there is any problem, especially since he has a contract (until 2026). (The renewal) will eventually happen."
Along with Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, Yamal has 16 goals and 24 assists in all games, and is part of the Barcelona offense, scoring 167 goals in 57 games this season.
But while Deco doesn't expect any major transfer activity this summer, he admits the team may need to provide more backups for Yamal and Raphinha, who have threatened Barça's threat this year.
The former Portuguese international added: "I don't believe anyone will leave this team considering their dynamics and fun."
“We have renewed most of the players (contracts); now we need to take care of other people who are still here. I said we couldn’t lose anyone last year and I think it’s the same now.
“If we can improve, that’s always an option, but the key is to integrate what we have in the next few years. Suddenly, we rely heavily on Raphinha and Lamine. Maybe we need similar players, and this is their solution (when they are not available).
"But the team is very balanced and we have a lot of great players through the youth team."
Barcelona can win the league as early as Wednesday if Real Madrid plays against Mallorca. If they don't do so, they will win the championship on Thursday at city rival Espanyol.
Laliga's champion will block domestic trebles, and the team also reached its first Champions League semi-final with its first Champions League semi-final since 2019, eventually losing 7-6 to Inter Milan after an epic tie.
“At the beginning of the season, as we change, the idea is for competition,” Deco said. “Competition means fighting top teams.
“This season is slightly beyond expectations because we are already competing with the strong Real Madrid side and we are not in the Champions League finals due to the advantage alone.
"By the end of the season, that's the idea. That's the idea. We've won the Spanish Super Copa and Cup del Rey."
