Queensland Rockets launch postponed to Friday
Today, the first Australian-made rocket will be launched into orbit from North Queensland today, but was delayed due to system issues.
Queensland-based Gilmore Space Technology launches Eris Testflight1 from 7:30 AM this morning. The company said it would be the first orbital launch from Australia in more than 50 years, and the first Australian to try the rocket attempt.
But they had to stop planning:
Not released today. Our team identified a problem in the ground support system during an overnight inspection; now, we are in an extended state while working.
The next release target is Friday morning.
Working data helps pencils reduce rates
The Reserve Bank is watching closely as the last data domino fell before the critical rate meeting.
The Australian Union's preferred measure of inflation - the trimmed average - fell to its target at 2.9% in April, but the closeness of the labour market remains a central bank focus.
When the Australian Bureau of Statistics released workforce data in April today, the unemployed are expected to remain 4.1%. This is the last major data news before the RBA board revealed its interest rate decision on Tuesday and could provide the final green light for lowering interest rates.
The interest rate market has reached 25 basis points, and most economists expect the board to drop for the second time after falling in February.
The central bank predicts an unemployment rate of 4.2% in the June quarter, but has been below that level since July 2024.

Choice says
Promotional price tags used by major chemists may attract shoppers to products that aren't discounted at all, and new research finds that the Bright tag confuses one-third of customers.
The choice of consumer advocacy groups found that some pharmacies said they offered discounts on recommended retail price (RRP) despite never charging higher fees, which is the manufacturer's advice.
Other products have colorful labels that mask smaller shelf labels, offering the same price, meaning some customers think the discount they receive doesn't exist, Choice's senior event and policy consultant, Bea Sherwoodexplain.

Protesting on Haka's landing in Maori MPs' serious ban
New Zealand MPs protesting constitutional reforms with Haka on parliament floor will be believed to be considered the worst ever in the agency's 170-year history.
Last November, 22 years old Hana-East Maipi-Clarke She dismissed the Treaty Principles Act, tore it apart, and performed HAKA with the Māori Party’s co-leaders, becoming a global viral sensation.
Members of Congress tore up Bill and lead Haka
The Treaty Principles Bill was advocated by the Right-wing Bill Party to redefine the legal treaty - depriving the rights granted to Maori by the New Zealand Foundation.
The Maori protests within the parliament were sent to the Privileges Commission, which was determined to suspend Maipi-Clarke for one week, while Rawiri Waititi and Debbie Ngarewa-Packer were three weeks respectively.
Judith CollinsThe Attorney General and Chairman of the Committee said it was the toughest punishment it has ever been and "the worst event we have ever seen":
That's right. It was a very serious incident, something I had never seen in my 23 years in the debate room.
HAKA has been admired worldwide as the last bill for all black football tests and has not been banned in parliament, but requires permission from the speaker to perform and cannot undermine litigation. Collins said members of Congress deliberately intimidated the bill when they were ready to vote when they advocated for reform.
The Maori Party condemned the ban as "gravely unjust, unfair and unnecessary" and took an opposition to "strengthening institutional racism" in its report. It reads:
The discovery that our actions constitute “intimidation” sets dangerous precedents for Aotearoa. It caused Maori protests, and the claims of Haka and (Maori sovereignty) are inherently threatened.
The punishment may be voted by parliamentary rubber map stamp next Tuesday and will be voted by three government parties (the State, the Bill and New Zealand).
