Aubrey O'Day says she won't testify at Didi's trial

Sean "Diddy" Combs' former Protégé Aubrey O'Day confirmed she would not testify at the ongoing sex trafficking trial of the former rapper.

In 2005, the 41-year-old singer became famous when she appeared on Diddy's MTV show "Make The Band" and became a member of the girl group Danity Kane. On May 14, O'Day shared an article in her Instagram story that prompted people to testify at a highly public federal trial in New York City that she would testify as a witness.

"Hey New York!!! You all think I should go first?" Ori wrote in a video shot in Manhattan. Former Danity Kane members added balance emojis, a common symbol of justice.

But O'Day set a record in the first episode of the podcast's first episode, "Amy Robach & TJ Holmes: Aubrey O'Day, Covering Diddy Trial."

"No, I'm not here to testify for Didi's trial, that's what I know," O'Day said when hosts Robach and Holmes asked.

However, O'Day continues to claim that government officials contacted her about the trial.

"The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had a meeting with the Department of Homeland Security," she said, and she said he was asked not to provide more details about the meeting.

"I posted my New York here on Instagram and I was so happy because I wanted to make it clear to everyone that I wasn't here to testify."

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is a government agency that raided Didi's homes in Los Angeles and Miami in March 2024.

When Sherlock Holmes pointed out that the podcast was recorded as “from the streets where the trial was going,” O'Day said, “I didn't even realize it.”

Despite reports that O'Day would testify, People Magazine reported that the TV personality was not summoned by prosecution or defense.

The trial against Diddy began on May 12 in the U.S. court in Lower Manhattan.

Although O'Day was not involved in the court lawsuit, her former Danity Kane, Dawn Richard, testified in 2009, allegedly witnessing Diddy's assault on Cassie. Richard told the court Friday that the alleged quarrel with her was “attacked” and that it was “last night” for her “last night”, which was carried out in a normal relationship.

O'Day crossed the road with Diddy for the first time in the third season of MTV's "Production Band", nearly two decades ago. Three years later, the rapper drove O'Day from Danity Kane in the season 4 finale.

Diddy was arrested a few years ago, and O'Day repeatedly relate to her controversial history - often mentioning that he was allegedly abused in the past.

On Saturday, O'Day shared her thoughts on the trial in a statement from People magazine.

"This trial is bittersweet for me because I've been talking about Didi's truth for 20 years," she said.

The singer went on to explain why she worked with Holmes and Robach to conduct the trial on a new podcast.

"This podcast was the first step in reclaiming my voice and career when I was suddenly fired by my band to get me stripped of my voice and career," O'Day said.

She added: “My heart is for all victims, especially those who could have been spared, if anyone takes these claims seriously.”

“My sincere hope is that justice will prevail and further systematic changes will be made within the music industry to prevent all forms of abuse by those with power.”
