At least 22 people were in the restaurant fire in northeast China | News

Authorities said three other people were injured in the fire, engulfing a multi-storey building in Leyayang.

At least 22 people were killed in a fire in a restaurant in Liaoyang, a northern Chinese city, and three others were injured, Chinese authorities said.

Authorities did not provide details about the fire that broke out shortly after noon Tuesday (04:25 GMT).

However, images from the scene showed huge flames erupting on the windows and doors of a multi-storey building in Liaoyang, about 580 kilometers (360 miles) northeast of the capital Beijing.

"The incident has killed 22 people and injured three people," state broadcaster CCTV said.

Videos posted on the Chinese version of Tiktok Douyin show paramedics riding a victim in an ambulance on a stretcher and several firefighters fight the flames with hoses.

Another video from a social media platform photographed above the scene shows more than a dozen fire trucks outside the restaurant.

Hao Peng, secretary of the Liaoning Provincial Ruling Party Committee, said 22 fire trucks and 85 firefighters were deployed to the site.

Huo said that the on-site rescue work has been completed and people have been evacuated.

Provide a long list of regional politicians from the governor and promise to fall into the bottom of the disaster and severely punish those responsible.

The Chinese director said Chinese President Xi Jinping called for "to do his best to treat the injured, to properly handle the consequences of the deceased, to provide support to his family, to quickly determine the cause of the fire, and to pursue responsibility according to the law."

Industrial accidents occur frequently in China, often by staff members who ignore safety characteristics due to lack of superior training or stress.

Poor maintenance of infrastructure, illegally stored chemicals, lack of fire exports and flame retardants (usually corruption to) are often factors in this disaster.

In recent months, the country has encountered a series of fatal events. On April 9, at least 20 people died in a sanatorium fire in Hebei Province, China.

In January, a fire in the vegetable market in Zhangjiakou City, northwestern Beijing killed eight people and injured 15 people.

A month before that, nine people broke out at a construction site in Rongcheng, an eastern Chinese city.
