As Malcolm X's 100th birthday is celebrated in New York, it's what the family wants.

New Yorkers remember Malcom X Monday on his 100th birthday.

A pair of parties in Upper Manhattan revisited his inspiring words and his struggle for black power.

In the National Action Network, they celebrate by singing Happy Birthday with birthday cakes.

"We are here to find truth and justice for our fathers and mothers, African diaspora and all peoples around the world," said Ilyasah Shabazz, daughter of Malcolm X.

Shabazz Requirements To learn more about her father's murder February 21, 1965 in New York City. When he was killed at the age of 39, his widow, Dr. Betty Shabazz, an educator and civil rights activist, died in 1997, and with six children.

"We have formally asked the FBI to release the Malcolm X papers, just as they did on Kennedy, RFK and MLK," said family lawyer Ben Crump.

"The emotional pathway of this bullet must stop in this generation," said New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Pastor Al Sharpton, founder and president of the National Action Network, was asked how to move forward in the name of Malcom.

"Whether it's using social media, mainstream media, anyway, that's how we fight," Sharpton said.

Malcolm X honors will also be held Monday night at Malcolm X and the Betty Shabaz Memorial Center and Education Center on Broadway and West 165 Street.
