Arsenal coach Arteta: Best Team in the Champions League "Out"

Mikel Arteta said the best team lost after Arsenal fell from the Champions League semifinal.

Paris Saint-Germain won a 3-1 victory on Tuesday night with a total victory of 3-1 and finished the final against Inter Milan in Munich on May 31.

PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma received two exquisite savings from Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard in the opening 10 minutes, so the Gunners made a quick start in the French capital.

Donnarumma missed the 69th minute fine on Vitinha’s handball awarded by Myles Lewis-Skelly at Var Review, but he also received a great fingertip save before Vitinha missed the 69th minute fine.

Saka finally found the Nets in the 76th minute, but it turned out that there are no trophys for the fifth straight season as Arsenal failed to reach the second Champions League final.

After the game, Arteta said: "100% I don't think there is a better team in the game than Arsenal, so I've seen it, but we're not there. We should have gotten more games in both games. But this game is about the box. But both boxes are about the game, and in both games, there are usually batsmen, and he's the goalkeeper, he's the best player in both games."

Arteta pushes whether this means the best team with PSG lost the tie, he replied: "I think yes. Especially in 160 minutes. I'm saying that, they're saying it's because they're just telling me.

"It brings me a lot of pride, but at the same time, I'm so frustrated and angry that we didn't manage to do it. Today, I see how much players want because they cry (at the end)."

Arteta's rival manager Luis Enrique was asked about the evaluation after the match but disagreed with his countrymen.

"Mikel Arteta is a good friend, but I simply disagree (Arsenal should win)," Luis Enrique said. "They play the role the way they want and the way they like to play, but on both legs we score more goals than they are, which is the most important thing.

“Arsenal played a great game and we suffered a lot, but we should be in the final.”

Midfielder Declan Rice, who was earlier in Donnarumma’s post, said Arsenal’s early goals could wave.

"If one of your chances might get a chance in the first 15 or 20 minutes, the head of the game will change completely," the England midfielder said. "Then we have two mistakes, two goals for them. Obviously, with the opportunity we missed, it feels like it's not like that."

Arsenal has now failed to make progress from the semifinals of the past four major cup matches (2020-21 Europa League, 2021-22 Carabao Cup, 2024-25 Carabao Cup, 2024-25 Champions League).

They have also been in pain in their two Premier League title battles with Manchester City over the past two seasons, but Rice said the setbacks would make them stronger.

“I think sometimes you have to lose some to win, and you have to overcome setbacks and grow spiritually, grow as a person, player and group,” Rice said. “We as a team, as people, we need to continue pushing and keep believing.”
