Postecoglou's roster appears to be winning until Ulrik Saltnes took the lifeline on the Norwegian side in a tie before the second leg on May 8.

Despite the late goals stripped a certain level of victory, Postecoglou praised the supporters of the "buzz" they created, which made his side willing to win his side in the game, just four days after a 5-1 win over Liverpool.

“From the moment we walked out, I think our supporters were excellent tonight and I think they added energy to the team,” he said.

“Even if we reached the early goals, it was due to the fact that the boys walked out, the stadium buzzed – a commendable honor for our fans.

He added: “Obviously, they were late to score goals, which doesn’t reflect our dominance in the game, but if we repeat that performance next week, it’s enough for us to achieve it.
