Tottenham has fired head coach Ange Postecoglou despite ending the club's 17-year trophy drought after winning the Europa League.
Sky Sports News Knowing Brentford boss Thomas Frank is the main contender to inherit his, and has a release clause in the contract, although negotiations have not yet been held with the Bee.
Postecoglou's sack came after he led the Spurs to a 1-0 Europa League victory over Manchester United in 41 years.
But in Bilbao's glory, the Spurs are eligible for next season's Champions League, after Postecoglou hosts the club's worst Premier League campaign ever.
Tottenham finished 17th after suffering 22 defeats to record its lowest Premier League points of 38.
Postecoglou left his four-year contract after two seasons.
His sacking is exactly two years after his appointment, and he joined from the Celtic on June 6, 2023.
In September, PosteCoglou famously claimed that he "always won games in his second season" - but delivering on his promises is not enough to keep his job.
The 59-year-old left means that the Spurs are looking for their fifth permanent manager since Mauricio Pochettino left in 2019.
Postecoglou, who said he hasn't finished his job with the Spurs after he won the Europa League trophy.
“We’re still building this team,” he said. “It’s a young team and we need to add experience. My thinking process is building a team that can be successful for five to six years.
"But I'm the manager - this decision is not in my hands. It won't affect me. You'll see that in the accumulation, what I care about is (the medal) - which means this football club has won the trophy.
"I feel like I've done this job. We're building a job. The moment I took the role, there's one thing in my head, winning something. We've done it now, and I want to build it in that."
Last season, PosteCoglou hit the Premier League with a 10-game unbeaten start with the Spurs, which led him to appoint the Premier League manager this month in the August, September and October years.
But, in early November, the bubble burst after a 4-1 4-1 win over Chelsea, and the Spurs were committed to their high-line goals despite the Spurs dropping nine players, and postecoglou notoriously announced Sky movement: "This is our companion."
In that defeat, the long-term impact of injury and suspension ruined the campaign as Tottenham lost five of its last seven games and missed the Champions League with a fifth-point run.
Due to his super aggressive strategy, the injury this season has once again caused Tottenham Hotspur’s damage, some of which blamed coglou.
Their injury crisis and poor performance resulted in poor form. After a 4-0 victory against Manchester City on November 23, the Spurs will continue to lose eight of their next 11 games, including a 2-1 loss to Leicester, the only team that separates Postecoglou from relegation this season.
The struggling run made postecoglou's relationship with Spurs supporters sour after a feud between Bournemouth, Fulham and Chelsea. The latter saw the booing of away fans at Stamford Bridge and then whispered, "You don't know what you're doing", which led to postecoglou celebrating the Spurs fans' ears before not allowing Pape Sarr's equalizer.
Chelsea's 1-0 loss made him the first owner of the first four league games against the Blues, and he failed to beat the Spurs' main rival Arsenal in the four league games he was responsible for.
This was after a home defeat against the Gunners in September, when Poscoglo announced that “I always win everything in the second year” and despite that promise, it wasn’t enough to keep him in the role.
They also beat them in the Calaba Cup semifinal in February after a 4-0 two-leg loss at Anfield in February, which left them losing 4-1 in the overall game.
In the FA Cup, Tottenham Hotspur was almost embarrassed by non-league Tamworth in the third round, and the Spurs needed overtime to win the National League team before being beaten by Aston Villa in the next stage.
So it all comes down to the Europa League, and while the victory over Manchester United put him into Spurs folklore, Daniel Levy ended Postecoglou's turbulent domination - now, the Spurs are starting again.
