Angie Postkoglu has slammed Tottenham Hotspur following their derby day defeat to Arsenal, describing their performance and recent form as "unacceptable".
Postkoglu's side posed little threat in the 2-1 defeat and Pedro Polo's shot from an incredible angle in stoppage time was the closest they came to responding in the second half when they should have tied the score.
Since defeating Manchester City in November, Spurs have only beaten 20th-placed Southampton in the league, finishing 13th, while Arsenal have their sights set on the title. Postkoglu's side are just eight points above the relegation zone.
They next face Everton on Sunday as they themselves try to avoid a relegation battle. Sky Sports.
Asked for his thoughts on the performance, Postkoglu said: "Not good enough, especially in the first half, too passive. We let Arsenal take control of the game. I'm disappointed with us both with and without the ball. , it’s not good enough for them to dictate the pace.
"That's not how we play. That's not how I set up the team to play. It's not good enough to sit back and let Arsenal play."
"There is no silver bullet. We need to work hard, go into battle on Sunday and turn around our fortunes and our season. Things happen for a reason but the reality is our results and form in the league are not nearly good enough." This needs to change.
"We just didn't play the way I wanted to. We're an aggressive team with and without the ball - we showed that against Liverpool, but tonight we were too passive Yes. It was unacceptable. The second half was better, but not enough.
"No one at the club can accept this, it's not right that we've lost so many games in a league season. Yes we're asking for big jobs but I want the 18-year-olds (Archie Gray and Lou (Cass Bergvall) can be hurt as much as anyone by not being able to deliver on the big day."
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta said in an interview with TNT:
"The lads were outstanding. Less than 72 hours ago we played 120 minutes but our performance was outstanding.
"We made it difficult for ourselves but the attitude was outstanding. The purpose and intensity were really good.
"We have a game every three days so it's just a base and now it's about the next day. We won today which was great but now it's about Aston Villa. My confidence comes from me every day See, not just results. Sometimes in football you don't get what you deserve.
"We can't feel sorry for ourselves. What we can control is performance and they did that again today."
On the possibility of reinforcements in January, Arteta added: "Yes, of course. We lost two important players in Gabi (Jesus) and Bukayo (Saka). We will try, we are actively looking. We lost two very important players. We will try , but let’s see what we can get.”
