Carlo Ancelotti said there was “no drama needed” as he confirmed his plan to start from Real Madrid and admitted that the team needed “new motivation.”
Ancelotti also confirmed that he will become Brazil's new head coach, adding that he will be responsible for the end of the campaign in Laliga in Madrid on May 26.
Ancelotti spoke at a press conference before Madrid's match against the real Mallorca, reluctant to discuss why the club itself has not taken his departure.
"Madrid will make a statement when they want it, there is no problem there," Ancelotti said.
"When this is the right time for Real Madrid, what they will do... (Brazil) is a huge challenge, but until May 26, I was still the Madrid coach. I want to end the final stage of this wonderful adventure. Out of respect for this club, the fans and the players, I am totally focused."
Ancelotti declined to reveal when he knew he would leave Madrid at the end of the season, despite a contract until June 2026.
"What I'm talking to the club is absolutely personal," he said.
"Like life, football is an adventure that starts and ends. When you arrive at Real Madrid, you know that one day is over...I want to end everything here, and that's what my professionals ask for."
Madrid beat Barcelona 4-3 classic On Sunday, their leader at the top of the Laliga table was 7 points behind.
This result means that if Madrid fails to beat Mallorca, or Barcelona beat Espanier on Thursday, then Barcelona will be confirmed as the champion. Ancelotti is under increasing pressure after a lack of season in Bernabéu.
Madrid was eliminated in the Champions League quarterfinals and beat Del Rey Cup final in Barcelona, while Sunday's Classic The loss effectively ended their league title, meaning they would end the domestic season without a major trophy.
"I can't be a Real Madrid coach forever," Ancelotti said. "(That's it) it may be that the club needs new motivation for a lot of reasons. They are normal things in life and don't need drama... Maybe it's time to make a change, that's it. It's a common decision to end it here."
Ancelotti has long been associated with Brazil's work and is the top candidate for CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues, who had previously considered taking on the position in 2023.
The Italian won't say why the CBF feels it's necessary to announce his signing on Monday, as his Madrid departure has not yet been formalized.
"Everyone can act as they want," Ancelotti said, continuing to deny that he was uncomfortable with the situation.
"If I didn't have to have a press conference today, it would be a great day," he said. "I have to explain what I don't want to explain, and because I respect this (Real Madrid) shirt, I can't do it."
Madrid is taking on the role of Ancelotti's successor to Xabi Alonso after confirming he will leave Bayer Leverkusen.
Madrid and Alonso are keen on coaching to take charge of the teams in the U.S. club World Cup next month.
"I have a lot of feelings for Xabi Alonso," Ancelotti said when asked about his former player's coming. "I don't have a lot of advice to give him because he has all the tools to be a great coach in the future."
