Unless a big sensation is a step further, the Los Angeles Rams more or less lock their starting lineup in the 2025 NFL season. But that doesn't mean Les Snead and Sean McVay will remain quiet this summer.
Still small moves can be made, NFL.com's Gennaro Filice came up with a small deal the Rams could do - not including Jalen Ramsey reunion. Filice wrote that the Rams could swap Beaux Limmer to the Detroit Lions, who just lost the starting center to retire.
"What if the Lions would replace an Arkansas 6-foot-5 center with another Arkansas 6-foot-5 center?" Phyllis wrote. “Yes, Ragno entered the league with a purebred first-round match, while Limmer didn’t stand out until the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Anyway, last season, Limmer was immediately hit with an injury last season, with the rookie finishing up 16 games, including two, including two.
"Unfortunately, a couple tough snaps against Jalen Carter sealed Los Angeles' fate in the Divisional Round loss at Philadelphia. And it was those kinds of pass-blocking breakdowns from the youngster that motivated the Rams to bring back old center Coleman Shelton in free agency, inherently sending Limmer to the benchmark. All in all, though, Limmer acquitted himself pretty well in Year 1, particularly as a run Blocker. Detroit's offensive line remains on the brink of Penei Sewell and Taylor Decker, the Lions sign Trystan Colon. It's hard to imagine the two people struck a deal here."
What can rams get for limmer? It's hard to say, because Limmer is a late draft pick and has recently served as the bench on Shelton. But if Sheldon is the future, everything to get Limmer would be a steal, like when the Rams traded Jonah Jackson to the Chicago Bears earlier in the offseason.
These are the types of moves a masterful general manager to take advantage of players who don’t usually affect the team. Limmer is a quality backup, though, and the Rams may not want to break up with him in order to prevent disaster from hitting the offensive line.
