Odessa, Texas - The American High School baseball team will do in the Class 5A semifinals, 2-division and 2-point baseball playoffs.

At Odessa High School Thursday night, Colliville's legacy never fell behind and beat the best two of the three series 10-2.

The second game is Friday, May 16. America must win to avoid being eliminated by the Texas High School Baseball Championship. The winner of the series will enter the regional finals from May 22 to 24.

How Colliville Heritage Gets Opening Victory

The Panthers scored twice in the first and fourth and third innings in the three-pointers and sixth innings.

Outfielder Jobe Reed is the Panthers' plate leader, with his home runs, two doubles, single and three goals.

Two throwing errors in America also resulted in a pair of black panthers.

Starting pitcher Andrew Goodman won the win, entered all seven innings and got rid of big trouble in three innings.

America ranked second and third in second and third, but left these runners at the base. In the third inning, the Trail Blazers fell into the runners in third place, running a run in Seventh America but filling the base.

Highlights of America's Game 1

America's third baseman Drew Gonzalez received a three-hit, designated batsman Jyden Jimenez singled on the second run, left fielder Jacob Estrada ran in seventh place.

Americas coach Jesse Munoz said

"We were underperforming in all three stages of the game," Munoz said. "We were just being beaten."

Jaden Gimenes of America said

"Colliville's legacy is a better team tonight, but we can make a comeback and play better," Jimenez said. "We just need to reorganize. We played a tough schedule all year round and we prove that we can play at a high level."

The team plays 2 at noon on Friday at CST and if the third game is needed, the two teams will play 30 minutes after the second game.

Clint lost to Brock in the 4A opener

Clint lost to Brock on Thursday at Christensen Stadium in Midland, in the opening game of the Class 4A semifinals, in the Division 2 playoffs.

Clint led 8-6 in the sixth inning, but Brock scored nine times in that inning.

The series continues to play the second game at 11 a.m. Friday.
