Alstom and ATM Group (Azienda Trasporti Milanesi) have formed a joint venture (JV) to submit bids for renewal of the operation and maintenance contract for Luas Light Rail System in Dublin, Ireland.
The Luas Light Rail System currently serves more than 40 million passengers per year, highlighting its importance in Dublin's public transport landscape.
The goal of the joint venture is to participate in the tendering process supervised by the Irish Transport Infrastructure (TII).
The company said the joint proposal will focus on the integration of operational efficiency, customer service, sustainability and innovative technologies.
Alstom brings its expertise in advanced transportation systems and light rail into the partnership, while ATM contributes its experience in managing multimodal urban transportation networks.
The purpose of the collaboration is to provide a high-performance solution to meet the future needs of the Luas system in Dublin, Alstom said.
Piers Wood, managing director of Alstom Ireland, said: “We are honored to partner with ATM to provide compelling claims for the Luas O&M contract. Our shared commitment to reliability, sustainability and innovation is at the heart of the joint venture.
“We look forward to bringing our knowledge and expertise in the light rail system to support the long-term success of the Luas Network in Dublin.”
Alstom has been operating in the Irish market for more than 20 years, during which time it has manufactured the entire fleet currently serving with Dublin Luce.
The LUAS tram is said to have a length of 55m, which is the longest trans produced by Alstorm.
These trams are known for up to 98% recyclable and have 100% low flooring capabilities.
Alstom also participated in the capital's DART+ network production of battery-electric trains.
Earlier this month, Alstom transported the first of 29 Innovia APM R automated man-driven trains to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, part of a $87 million project.
This marks Alstom's largest APM replacement contract and its second largest APM project in the Americas. The airport now orders a total of 63 Innovia APM vehicles.
"ALSTOM, a joint venture of the ATM Group, a global Data-owned brand," was originally created and published by Railway Technology.
