The Alps confirmed that Franco Colapinto will replace Jack Doohan in the next five games, starting with the Emolia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola.
On Wednesday, France announced that it had taken a new decision to "rotate" the driver along with Pierre Gasly.
As a result, Colapinto's position will be reassessed before the British Grand Prix in July to allow possible Doohan to return.
"Recalling the opening game of the season, we decided to put Franco with Pierre for the next five games," said Flavio Briatore, executive consultant at Alpine. "Because the field this year is very close and there is a competitive car, the team has improved a lot over the past 12 months and we are in the need of a spinning roster.
“We also know that the 2026 season will be a big season for the team, and a complete and fair assessment of the drivers of this season is the right choice to maximize our ambitions.
"We continue to support Jack on the team as he has been in a very professional role so far this season. The next five races will give us the opportunity to try something different and after this time we will evaluate our options."
Doohan's position has sparked suspicion since the Alpine signed the role of Colapinto as a backup driver in January.
The Argentinian set the stage apart when Logan Sargeant replaced Logan Sargeant in nine games last year in Williams.
Williams lends him to the Alps this year, hoping he will gain some game experience.
"First of all, I want to thank the team for giving me the opportunity to compete in the next five games," Colapinto said. "I will work with the team to prepare for the next game of Imola and the upcoming triple-headed show, which is undoubtedly a huge challenge for everyone.
"I've always been keen and on the team's game support test program and on Enstone's simulator, I'm ready. I'll do my best to get up quickly and do everything I can to deliver the best results with Pierre."
Doohan has struggled to succeed in his five games this year, has collapsed several times and has worked hard to match teammate Pierre Gasly's qualification performance or competition results.
“I am very proud of my ambition to be a professional Formula One driver and I will always be grateful to the team for helping me achieve this dream,” Doohan said. “Obviously, this chapter has been a tough chapter for me because as a professional driver, I naturally want to compete.
“That is, I appreciate the trust and commitment of the team. We have a long-term goal to achieve and I will continue to do everything I can to help achieve that.
“For now, I will keep my head down and keep working hard, be interested in watching over the next five games and continue to pursue my own personal goals.”
On Tuesday, the Alps confirmed that team principal Oliver Oakes resigned immediately and Briatore took over Oakes’ duties.
Oakes recently said at the Miami Grand Prix last Friday that the plan was to keep Doohan with Gasly in Imola's next round.
