Alice cancels drummer Sean Kinney's Health tour in chain

Alice's chain has cancelled their trip after receiving unfortunate medical news.

The band announced that they decided to get the highly anticipated upcoming tour on social media on Saturday as they received medical advice about drummer Sean Kinney's Health.

"After careful consideration and following the advice of the medical professionals, we decided to cancel our remaining upcoming festival performances and Alice's performances in The Title Chain," the band's statement reads. "While we all yearn for a return to the stage, Sean's health is our top priority right now."

The statement did not specify an exact diagnosis of Kinney, only sharing that “the problem needs immediate attention” and “his long-term prognosis is positive.”

They concluded their statement with a sincere thank you to fans for their “understanding and support during this time.”

Fans of the popular rock band quickly drown the comment section on Instagram, bringing blessings to Kinney while also praising the band for putting his health ahead of the tour.

Another added: "Love sees a band that respects its members enough to put the most important things first. Respect. Wish Sean the best wishes."

The cancellation came soon after the band canceled their concert at Mohegan Sun Arena in Montville, Connecticut canceled their concert at Mohegan Sun Arena in Montville, Connecticut after Kinney “experienced a lifeless medical emergency” while at Soundcheck.

If the band didn’t cancel their show in Connecticut, it would be their first time playing together on stage in over a year, as their last show was in the Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas in April 2024.

In addition to canceling the tour, they also canceled their upcoming performances in Nashville and Atlanta, as well as performances at various music festivals including MMR*B*Q, Sonic Temple and Welcome To Rockville. According to the band's website, their only scheduled performance so far is the last concert in the UK on Black Sabbath in July.

Alice was founded in Seattle in 1987, and Kinney played drums with band members Jerry Cantrell, Mike Starr and Layne Staley. Current band members Mike Inez and William Duvall later joined Starr and Staley.

Throughout the band, they sold over 30 million records worldwide, received 11 Grammy nominations and ranked 34th in VH1's "100 Greatest Hard Rock's Greatest Artists".
