South Carolina Law Enforcement Department (Sledge) Hill, 57, was accused of obstructing justice and misconduct in Colleton County and in perjury in Richland County. The allegations of perjury stem from her alleged lies told South Carolina in January 2024 at South Carolina Supreme Court Justice Toal, when justice ruled that Murdaugh would not need a new trial in his appeal.
The alleged documents state that when Toal asked Hill, “Do you allow anyone in the press to watch the sealed exhibition?” Hill replied “No, ma’am,” which is obviously inconsistent with the evidence obtained by the authorities. And, as South Carolina standards say, you have to show not only the intervention of the jurors, but you have to show the impact on the jurors and their judgment. I represent six jurors for those jurors.
