Boston - Red Sox in Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
With the Red Sox, Jays won two runners 4-2, one runner singled in Nathan Lukes and Bo Bichette eliminated Justin Slaten in eighth place. Instead of putting Guerrero at base to Anthony Santander, Cora chose to play him with a slat - the Red Sox was burned. Slaten lowered Guerrero by 0-2 before three balls and one foul. Slaten then missed the curve ball, but Guerrero fell down and hit a 111.8 mph home run, which gave the Jays the final 5-4 lead.
Before the game at Fenway Park on Friday, ask Cora if she would consider walking Guerrero.
"You know what I think about it, maybe if it was a World Series, I would take him away...and we can't play them in the World Series."
When another journalist asked a question about another topic, Cora (no doubt) interrupted him, trying to return to Guerrero's question with a thoughtful explanation.
"A part of the walk, I got it," the manager said. "It's Vladdy Guerrero. We made him 0-2. We didn't perform the court. There's a two-way street here. I got it. Maybe, in the ALCS, I'll walk him. But now in April and May, I have to trust my guys. I have to do his job for Justin and he can do his job well. Break the ball and 3-2 Break the ball.
"It's all about trust now. We have a lot of young players on this list. Where we are going - we can decide from yesterday, we might throw a game, a game, and that's probably mine - but I think the way I manage it now, especially in this group, especially in this group, you have to be very patient, you really are patient because I do believe this year is talented. Guy tries to win in this case.
Cora's next chance to face Guerrero and Jays will come from Toronto's visit to Fenway Park from June 27-29.
