Amsterdam-based Magic Entertainment’s animation division has unveiled its 2025 release section that puts drama exhibitions at the center of its European expansion strategy, with the crown jewelry being a 4K recovery to the Cyberpunk Classic Classic “Akira”.
The POM anime lineup covers both famous legacy titles and contemporary groundbreaking: "Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye", "Akira", "Akira", "The Tomb of Fireflies" and "The Movie Iird the Movie: The Movillain the Movie: The Inmortal Bloodline." All four titles will receive drama releases on multiple European territories, demonstrating publishers' confidence in the big-screen appeal of anime content.
First out of the gate is the anticipated Season 2 theatrical launch of “Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye,” hitting cinemas June 7-8 across 12 territories, with Germany and Austria following June 10. Building on the success of “Dan Da Dan: First Encounter” in 2024, audiences will get the first three episodes of Season 2 plus exclusive 10-minute bonus content available only in Theaters. Launches span Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Kosovo.
POM Anime collaborates with Kodansha to license 4K repairs for 1988's "Akira" in 20 countries. The July 16 release date has a special meaning for fans, namely “Akira Day” – a fictional date commemorating Tokyo’s devastating triggered World War III in the film’s storyline. The perfection of slate is "Movie: Movie: Immortal Blood", marking the first new 2D lupin feature in nearly three decades. The second quarter 2025 release was directed by Takeshi Koike ("Redline"), and the successful collaboration with TMS Entertainment continued with TMS Entertainment after last year's "Lupine III: Cagliostro's Castle" Europe Run.
