Advanced Happiness Index Name Utah is the best state for mental health in older adults

Where you live may have a significant impact on your mental health.

Especially for the elderly, settlement is important in places that promote happiness.

According to the National Aging Commission, older people are at higher risk of mental health problems due to loss of loved ones, loneliness, chronic illness or changes caused by disability, medications, retirement and other stressors.

Advanced Care Resources Caring.com recently released its Advanced Happiness Index, revealing that seniors in the country are happiest, according to Wallethub's State Happine Roundup.

Experts analyzed various factors such as happiness level in each state, cost of living, average life expectancy, health rates for residents over 60 years of age, and the number of senior centers in each state.

Here are the results for the top 10 happiest elderly people.

  2. Idaho
  3. Connecticut
  4. Delaware
  5. Nebraska
  6. Hawaii
  7. New Hampshire
  8. Minnesota
  9. New Jersey
  10. Vermont

Utah won the first place in the most satisfying seniors with a happiness score of 7.69.

According to the study, Utah’s seniority attributes to its “supportive environment” for senior living, good senior health and the third-lowest percentage (21.48%) of elderly people living alone, which reduces the risk of social distancing.

Caring.com commented that volunteering allows the state’s aging population to “stay in touch and connect with the community.”

Idaho followed closely with an overall happiness score of 10.38.

In Idaho, less than a quarter of seniors live alone, the country’s second highest speed, with the state ranking in the top five in the top five of the senior centers.

Caring.com adds: “Idaho is known for its amazing natural landscape, providing many opportunities for seniors to relax outdoors and promotes physical and mental health.”

Connecticut and Delaware tied for third place, with a score of 7.01 on the happiness scale.

Connecticut has the third highest life expectancy and is one of the top ten states with overall health.

Only 7.2% of Connecticut residents lack health insurance, which ensures the necessary care for the aging population.

Connecticut also offers a variety of discounted cultural and immersive experiences for seniors, such as museums, parks, libraries, and art events.

According to Caring.com, Delaware is regarded as "one of the happiest and most supportive countries in life from now on."

The state ranks in the top 10 in overall health and well-being, with the lowest percentages in the top five among those living alone.

Caring.com believes Delaware's cost-of-living index is "relatively affordable" and that can help residents maintain a "comfortable and independent lifestyle."

Other states stand out in these categories, including North Dakota, the highest premium centers per 100,000 population and the highest cost of living in West Virginia.
