Reshaping is an unusual concept at the beginning of your career. Transformation usually follows a clear introduction – groundbreaking characters, the first book, memorable performances. But in the case of Addison Rae, the idea of “rebranding” defined her artistic breakthrough from the very beginning. Even if she gained credibility through co-signatures and collaborations from body shaping taste manufacturers such as Charli XCX and Arca, these recognitions only deepened one problem: This is the product of the reshaping of manufacturing, and is or Is this her person always?
To fully grasp the spirit of "Addison", the 24-year-old Tiktok Sensation turned into a pop singer's debut, you have to revisit the peaks and pitfalls of Addison Rae. As she became an influential figure in the Viral Dance and Lip Sync app, Rae worked hard to expand her influence in acting, music and business, even launching her own beauty series and starring in the Netflix movie "He's All". She released her debut single "Obsession" produced by Benny Blanco in 2021, although it was commercially unsuccessful.
Things got quiet for a while until a bunch of old Rae demos started to gain traction online, with a group of alternative pop fans demanding a formal release. Simply labeled "AR", these four songs arrived in 2023, including the now widely regarded single "2 Die 4". While some celebrate the simplicity of the song and its appealing verses - "My Neck, 2 Dead 4 / My Legs, 2 Dead 4 / ah-ah sex, 2 Dead 4", others jumped up to criticize her.
Over the past seven months, the single "Addison" has arrived like a clue, each seductively more than the last, full of lush, delicate flickering, fuzzy pop melody. "Diet Pepsi", then "Aquamarine", "High Fashion", "Earphones on Headphones" and "Famous", which were all her previous jobs.
Rae shows off a pure freedom in her music that can easily be interpreted as teenager or weird. We see this clearly in the feature on Charli's "Von Dutch (Remix)" and at some point she lets out a loud scream. Although you can classify it as disturbing destruction, Ad-lib has become a trademark of the song. It can be said here that in the introduction and visit introduced in Money is everything, this begins with a sexy and somewhat disorienting and ends with a fanatical happiness and marginal delusion.
In all the promotions at this press conference, Rae believes she and her collaborators have no direct influence during the recording process. Still, from the "Boy" of Charlie's - the Tech House Beat of the Times (see: "New York") to Lana del Rey's melancholy ("Summer Forever") and the basic aesthetics of Madnona and Britney Spears, it's hard not to compare with the most obvious touchstone. But, like most of her Z peers in pop music, Rae is the best and smartest student in the genre. She waved the artifacts of nostalgic images (at this point, it looked like wired headphones and third-generation iPod nano), and they most importantly, referenced her idol in a narrative that is still her own creation.
It is undeniable that co-producers Luka Kloser and Elvira Anderfjärd's promotion is Rae's only billed producer and co-writer on "Addison", except for Swedish songwriter Tove Burman, and other than having songwriters on "Lost and Lost and Penduct" and "High Fashion" and "High Fashion" and "High Fashion" and "High Fashion". Kloser and Anderfjärd are not afraid to play sounds in unique ways, cutting off space and rhythmic elements to complement Rae's breathing, like a carefully constructed puzzle.
After listening to the songs on “Addison” in the expected order, it is also interesting to the lyrical theme, which is caused by emotion and is driven by digestible single lines and definite affirmations: “I know the low point is the person who makes high and higher, and she sings is the singing “on the EEG”, like what you are masked in a good plan; “Living in clear waters is no fun. ” She found comfort in her escapist system, and the moment she usually felt misunderstood or vulnerable gave her power.
Is this enough to get Rae to the popular upper echelon? Her determination alone needs to be considered, even those who are fueled by the initial curiosity. Either way, she managed to open up the conversation – which was probably the most radical move of all.
