Short-term preparation time. Meals that attract most people. Grocery options. Mainly paper, there is no large amount of plastic packaging. | Vegans have limited weekly options. Agricultural products reach a decline, not always organic. |
Apart from purple carrots, Sunbasket is my favorite of the vegetarian meal packs I've tested. Sunbasket has both pre-made, calorie food and meal kits you need to prepare, as well as market items like fish and bread that you can buy from the grocery store. There are only two to three vegan dinner options most weeks, so this isn't a vegetarian meal plan that can be eaten all week, but it's a super delicious and quick addition. If Sunbasket has more vegetarian options, I will subscribe every week. Everything I had was delicious during the testing week and took about half an hour to prepare. (Unlike the specifications of the cutlery kit, promises a meal that takes 20 minutes within that range.) A fresh black bean and quinoa Buddha bowl topped with roasted zucchini, bell pepper and caramelized onion for a umami and fresh avocado flavor for a creamy flavour; a cold udon salad with ginger tofu and pickled vegetables has the right balance of crispness and acidity (I still dream about this dish); a quick-prepared chopped Suey and Shishito peppers, carrots and mushrooms are a solid stir-fry.
Is the brand completely vegetarian? no. You need to use a vegetarian filter for dinner and look for a vegetarian label on all other meals and foods.
Availability: Except for parts of Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, North Dakota and New Mexico, most zip code ships in the United States (not all regions are available).
Plan details: The serving size is two to four. If it is a pre-made meal, there are three or four meals a week. You can filter vegan options on the menu page, but for some reason it only filters the rotating weekly dinner choices. You have to filter breakfast and snack options and look for vegetarian labels. Depending on your postal code, most people can choose to deliver on any day from Sunday to Thursday, but only once a week.
cost: At the time of writing, meals start at $10 per serving, with free delivery for one order (after that, delivery is $10). Premium "Chef's Table" meals cost as much as $30, and most vegetarian meals hover around $12 to $15. Unlike a large number of delivery services, Sunbasket prices do not vary based on food, and orders are at a minimum of $45. Like many brands, Sunbasket offers a lot of discounts, such as $90 off on the first four orders. You will need to make changes or cancellations at least one week before the next billing period.
