Longtime CBS journalist Lesley Stahl admitted she was "angry" to Paramount Global Chairman Shari Redstone on Friday's matters dealt with President Donald Trump's lawsuit against the network.
"60 Minutes" reporters discussed the ongoing lawsuit and its impact on her plans in the New Yorker Radio Hour Podcast. She reflects top producer Bill Owens resigned from his so-called "painful" experience as he claimed he had restricted his story online.
After CBS News President Wendy McMahon suddenly resigned, she called the situation on the network "hard" and partially accused Redstone of putting pressure on them, which seemed to be an app on the Trump administration.
“To put the news organization under pressure from the company – let the company tell a news organization, ‘do this, do this, change that, change that, don’t run that piece of work.” I mean, this is the First Amendment, it’s stepping into the press freedom. "Starr said. "It takes our position. This makes me question whether any company should have news action. This is very disturbing. ”

Nevertheless, despite revealing that she was considering leaving journalists with “ensse” after Owens resigned, she refused to use the term “turbulence” to describe the situation. Stahl added that there is a sense of "frailty" in the media now due to Trump's "frivolous lawsuit" and lack of trust in the media.
“The pain inside me is that the public does not appreciate freedom, the importance of a strong press in our democracy,” Starr said. “Even the Founding Fathers realized that we need to have a strong Fourth legacy to hold elected officials accountable and continue to clean the system. The public doesn’t seem to want what we are going to do to be a part of our public life.”
She predicts that CBS's parent company Paramount Global will eventually settle with Trump to complete its merger with Skydance Media. If that happens, she hopes the new owners “keep the freedom of the media as a beacon.”
The interview comes ahead of news Friday about Trump's $15 million settlement in his $20 billion lawsuit. Fox News Digital confirmed that the president's team requested at least $25 million and offered an apology to CBS News.

Last October, Trump sued CBS News and Paramount for $10 billion in election interference allegations involving then-Vice President Kamala Harris, an interview aired a few weeks before the presidential election (the amount has since jumped to $20 billion).
The lawsuit says CBS News deceptively edited Harris’s exchange with “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker, who asked her why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was not “listening” to the Biden administration. Harris was widely ridiculed for his answer to "One Word Salad" aired in a preview clip of the interview with Face the Nation.

But when the same issue aired on the prime time special on the web, Harris had a different, more concise response. Critics at the time accused CBS News of deceptively editing Harris's "Word Salad" answer to protect Democratic candidates from further opposition, leading to Election Day.
Starr denied any effort to make Harris look better, and the network was only broadcasting two halves of the answer. She claimed the lawsuit was to intimidate them.
Starr expressed concern about the situation in the free media in a lawsuit against CBS. .
"In short, it was actually to relax our efforts. There was no harm. I mean, he accused us of editing Kamala Harris in a way that helped her win the election. But he won the election."
