SU has some NCAA history on both Terps and Hoyas, falling to Maryland 13-7 in the quarterfinals in the 2016 quarterfinals, while Desko lost 18-8 to Georgetown in the first round in his final game as head coach in 2021.

Syracuse will have to wait until Sunday afternoon to find its semi-final rival as Maryland/Georgetown follows Penn State/Notre Dame in another season quarterfinal in Annapolis, Maryland.

Cornell has also reached the semi-finals, with the two long-time Northern rivals likely to meet in the championship game, a rematch of the 2009 finals in the same field.
