24 Canadians open it in Royal Canadian Canada

It's a special week for Canadians.

The NHL's Stanley Cup final began Wednesday night with the Edmonton Oilers hoping to beat the Florida Panthers and bring Lord Stanley's Cup to the north of the border for the first time in 32 years.

Of course, the start of the Cup final also means it's a special week for Canadian golfers and golf fans as the PGA Tour takes place in Ontario in TPC Toronto, the 2025 Canadian Canadian Open (TPC Toronto), the first golf course to host a championship.

Canada has 24 Canadian golfers who will play in their national Open, including PGA Tour Stalwarts Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith and Nick Taylor.

Taylor finished fourth in the memorial last week, winning the 72-foot eagle on the 18th green in Oakdale to win the 2023 RBC Canadian who won Tommy Fleetwood in a marathon.

"I actually drove with my wife and we saw that picture, that was that picture (the putter 2023)," Taylor said at a press conference Wednesday. "In that moment, I always remember that when I saw the face, that was when I found Dave (Markel), it was like 'Holy you know--at the time' what.

Adam Hadwin - He met the Green to celebrate the green after showing off on Taylor in 2023.

The Canadian teams of Pendrith, Taylor and Mackenzie Hughes will play together in the first two rounds. The group was TEES Thursday at 7:29 a.m. ET.

"It's really fun," Penderis said. "Telephone time came out yesterday and had a group chat. We were all fired. I don't think I thought I've played with Mackenzie on the PGA Tour, not that I remember, it's going to be fun. I mean, I mean, legends in Canada, it's going to be fun.

World Ranking 21 Conners is the highest Canadian in the official world golf rankings and he won't be having fun with his fellow countrymen.

"I spent enough time playing with those guys and I'll be fine," Connors said. "Last week, I paired with Tyler (Pendrith) in the memorial and it was fun. I had a great pairing. I knew these three guys would have fun together. No matter who I play with, I'll feel the love of Canadian fans and it's going to be a fun week."

Conners will kick off at 12:55 PM ET with Shane Lowry and RCMP Open champion Robert MacIntyre.

Canadian golf legend Mike Weir is also playing this week, playing in his 32nd Canadian Open.

"Mike, he's a Canadian idol," Connors said. "When I grew up, he was my inspiration and an aspiring junior golfer. He's the guy I've been following. He was able to really motivate and inspire me to work hard and try to reach the highest level of professional golf."

Weir was the 2003 Masters champion, playing with Canadian compatriot Ben Silverman and Chan Kim of the United States, the group on Thursday at 7:07 a.m. TEES.
