SAN FRANCISCO – J.J. Redick left the postgame podium on Saturday after his Los Angeles Lakers beat Stephen Curry in their 118-108 victory over Golden State ), it was a night of brave shooting, with a Warriors security guard waiting for him.

The security guard had a gift to give to the Lakers coach: two of Curry's jerseys signed and personalized for Redick's sons, Knox and Kay.

Redick's home in Pacific Palisades burned to the ground in a Southern California wildfire earlier this month, with flames destroying his family's belongings, including his collection of boys' sports memorabilia.

Curry helps complement that lead after the San Antonio Spurs' Chris Paul and Victor Wembanyama, who is leading the way for the Lakers. They made similar gestures during the game after the first game was postponed from six games due to the fire.

“We'll be in the house soon,” Reddick said when asked about the family. “So, they're safe, they're taken care of.” The kids are back at school. “

Saturday marks the start of a five-game set for the Lakers, and Redick needs to be away from his family and working.

“Had this trip been three or four days after (the fire), it would have been tough, but they're in a good spot,” Reddick said. “We have a lot of support in the community and with our families.”

Warriors coach Steve Kerr was also affected by the fire. His mother, who lived in Pacific Palisades, lost her home. His high school, Palisades Charter, also burned down.

Kerr wore a Palisades Dolphins hat during his pregame news conference Saturday to show support for his alma mater and said he and Redick have worked together in the past few weeks since the fire. We kept in touch throughout the days and weeks.

“He's been through a lot more than me because he lost his house,” Kerr said. “My mom lost hers. So, it doesn't directly impact my life. It's more concerning.

“But I haven't gone into detail about where he lives, what his kids are doing, going to school, all that stuff. It's a lot. So, he has a lot more on his plate than I do right now.”

Kerr said Lakers State Governor Jeanie Buss, also a Palisades Charter alum, will host Golden State at Crypto.com Arena.

“Let them do some red classroom therapy,” Kerr said.
