Valmark adds 3 new portfolios to Lincoln Vul Products
Valmark Advisers Inc. has expanded its portfolio offerings in Lincoln Financial Group Inc. Variable universal life insurance product and three additional investment options were added on May 12.
The new sub-accounts, which include Tops Conservative ETF portfolios, Tops Growth ETF portfolios and Tops Aggression Expristion ETF portfolios, are balanced and moderately growing ETF portfolios with existing TOPSs, have been offered since 2019.
The move offers policyholders more investment options, from options for safe bonds to options for growing stocks, the announcement said. Variable life insurance combines death benefits with investment accounts that can grow over time.
According to the portfolio's prospectus, in the new option, TOPS's conservative ETF portfolio seeks capital preservation and middle income, distributes about 70% of assets to fixed income ETFs and 30% of assets to stocks and REIT ETFs. Investments in fixed income are limited to investments that have average maturity of 20 years or less and maintain investment-grade credit quality.
According to the prospectus, the TOPS Growth ETF portfolio is designed for capital appreciation, allocating about 85% of assets in equity ETFs, REIT ETFs and natural resource ETFs, while allocating about 15% of assets to fixed income ETFs. Valmark chose an equity ETF composed of growth stocks with higher earnings growth and P/E ratios than average.
The prospectus says that for the greatest growth potential, TOPS's aggressive growth ETF portfolio is invested through investment targets primarily for common and preferred stocks, real estate-related securities, and natural resources-related securities. The portfolio recorded 11% turnover in fiscal 2024.
The prospectus says that all three portfolios adopt a fund structure, investing at least 80% of their assets in exchange-traded funds under normal market conditions. Annual operating expenses vary by portfolio and stock category.
Lincoln Financial clients are announced to have access to all five ETF-focused funds through Lincoln Asset Management (2025), Lincoln Assetedge Vul (2022) and Lincoln Assetedge Svul policies. Valmark consultants oversee and recommend total assets of approximately $10.6 billion.
