President Trump said Thursday that he will nominate his national security adviser Mike Waltz as UN ambassador since Trump began his second term.
Trump said on social media that he would make Marco Rubio a temporary national security adviser – a role that will play his existing job, the Secretary of State.

Waltz will need to confirm the UN position by the U.S. Senate. “I am very honored to continue to serve President Trump and our great nation,” he said on social media.
He has been staying in Congress since Trump asked his first candidate, Rep. Elise Stefanik, to help maintain a narrow majority held by the narrow majority in the House.

The news comes after hours of rumors that Waltz left his stance, while Rubio's spokeswoman Tammy Bruce is introducing it to a State Department reporter. “We have to admit that this is the last 100 days – like hanging on a weird bullet train,” Bruce told reporters.
The last person to serve as Secretary of State and National Security Advisor during the Nixon era was Henry Kissinger. He worked for two years.
“Some Americans in Washington and elsewhere believe that this dual mission puts Kissinger in too much power and convinces Ford to strip him of his White House title in late 1975,” said Presidential historian Michael Beschloss.
As far as Rubio is concerned, Trump said it would be a temporary task until he chooses a new national security adviser.
Waltz, the first Green Beret to be elected to Congress, served three terms in the House of Representatives, representing Central Florida.
Waltz, known as the National Security Hawk, has a tough road in Trump’s circle. He has long been an advocate of sanctions against Russia and never seemed to be fully aligned with Trump's attitude towards Moscow and other rivals.
Prior to his job at the White House, Waltz served as chairman of the House Armed Forces Preparation Subcommittee and was a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Intelligence Permanent Selection Committee.
