    Police said a man hit and killed a county deputy with a car Friday, the father of a teenager who was shot dead by a Cincinnati police officer a day ago. Authorities say the crash appears to have been intentional.

    Police said the driver of the car, Rodney Hinton Jr, 38.

    Hinton appeared in court on Saturday, with a wall standing behind the room. One prosecutor said the evidence and witnesses would show that Hinton drove directly to the agent in an attempt to kill him. The judge ordered Hinton to be held until another hearing Tuesday.

    A lawyer representing Hilton said he had no previous felony and knew it was a serious charge, WLWT-TV reported.

    The news of seeking comments was left to the attorney representing Hinton's family.

    Ohio Gov. Mike Dewine said in a statement that he was “disgusted by what appeared to be intentional acts of violence.”

    Cincinnati Police Commissioner Teresa Theetge said Hamilton County Sheriff's deputies directed traffic near the University of Cincinnati on graduation day when he was hit by a car driving into the intersection.

    According to Cincinnati-based CBS affiliate WKRC, the agent was outside his vehicle when the crash occurred and was taken to the UC Medical Center, but died shortly afterwards.

    Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey said authorities have not identified deputies who retired from the department a few months ago but are still working off work.

    “He's very popular, it's known,” McGuffy said. “How much loss we've all suffered.”

    Authorities said the crash is still under investigation.

    “As the allegations show, if the facts show that the bill was intentional, I will impose all legal force on the perpetrators,” Hamilton County Attorney Connie Pillich said in a statement Friday.

    Hinton's son, 18-year-old Ryan Hinton, was shot twice in the pursuit Thursday and was killed by police after police responded to a call from a stolen car.

    The Cincinnati Police Chief said the officer who opened the fire told investigators that the suspect pointed a gun at him during the chase.

    A body camera video of the shooting released Friday showed an officer saying “he has a gun, he has a gun” and then Ryan Hinton ran around behind the apartment building.

    Teger said there was no indication that he fired a gun at police officers before being shot.
