Miami Grand Prix: Andrea Kimi Antonelli
Antonelli's previous highest grid position was fifth.
Piastri, who headed 10 points over Norris this weekend to the championship game, said he believed he locked his pole in the last corner of the final lap.
Norris fell in the final match of Saudi Arabia.
“The performance today was a good court, not good enough, but shows how close Mercedes is.
Antonelli's impressive 0.309-second run from Russell reached a profit margin, despite the British joining Verstappen, the only driver who used tires twice in the final game. When they were out, everyone else was waiting in the pit for a while.
The idea behind this strategy is nervous in terms of the strategy after planning, as fast turnaround is required in the pit after the first lap, which allows the driver to record the lap of the “banker” and then go all out on the second lap.
But it has neither. Russell did not improve his second lap, although Verstappen was 0.255 seconds slower than Antonelli, while Piastri was 0.21 seconds slower.
“Everything we did well in the third quarter, the tires were doing well, but from the P1 struggling with a lot of people who weren't enough in the car, and in all the low-speed corners, you'll lose a lot of circles.”
Despite new floors this weekend, he was understated as the team sought to improve performance.
“In the first division, we're very competitive because that's where some high-speed corners are, but once you get to the low speed, we lack a lot of grip. The P4 is right, you have to stay realistic about our current limitations and still very close.”
Russell said: “Congratulations to Kimi. He did a great job. He was very fast all day and was very impressive.
“I've been struggling and not feeling so comfortable, we want to go early because I don't have that confidence. The P5 is not great, but it's not great for Kimi and the team (the result).”
Hamilton won his first sprint in China this season, and he was seventh, behind teammate Charles Leclerc. After three games, it was an improvement for Hamilton, but his teammates were still 0.222 seconds.
The Ferrari driver was unhappy. “It's a better meeting, but we just lack the speed. Keep working hard,” Hamilton said.
Teammate Lance Stroll achieved this in the sprint in China after Williams' “Alex Albon, Racing Bulls” Isack Hadjar and Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso finished the top 10, the second time the two-time champion team won the high of the season.
Albon's teammate Carlos Sainz should also be in the top 10, but he made a mistake on the last lap of the second session and would be ranked 15th.
Verstappen's teammate Yuki Tsunoda was eliminated in the first session and will start Sprint 18.
The Japanese complained that he was stopped by the car that drove out of the pit in his first lap, and he did not go around the warm-up ring in time to complete his second run.
