The NWSL announced Thursday that Racing Louisville Football Club striker Kayla Fischer will suspend three games in a hairstyle event that caused Saturday.

The NWSL's Disciplinary Committee reviewed all major gaming misconduct incidents and the committee issued additional penalties.

According to sources familiar with the situation, Fischer and Racing have the right to bring the decision, but it is unlikely to do so.

Fischer was deported in the 67th minute of the car's 3-2 victory over Angel City FC after a video commentary showed she pulled the hair of Angel City midfielder Madison Hammond and dragged Hammond to the corner kick in Angel City.

Angels City received a penalty kick, forward Alyssa Thompson lowered Louisville's lead to 3-2, but the Racing teams had a significant victory in the mid-spot clash.

The red card leads to the automatic suspension for the next game, which means Fischer added two games to her timeout, for a total of three. Louisville has three games left before the NWSL summer break.

Fischer was not eligible for another regular season game until August 1.

In a statement to ESPN on Thursday, Fischer apologized for her actions.

“I want to apologize to Madison Hammond and Angel City for their actions last weekend,” Fischer said.

“I never have to be overly aggressive when defending a corner, I sincerely regret my behavior and let my teammates down. I accept and understand the decisions of the league.

“When I returned to the court later this season, my plan showed that I had learned from the action and this moment doesn’t define me as a player or respect for my opponent and the game.”

Fischer started all 10 games for Louisville this year, with two goals and two assists. She assisted Savannah Demelo on Saturday 11 minutes before being dispatched.

There are precedents for three matches against similar events.

Tyler Lussi and Merritt Mathias were suspended for three games in 2017 for a separate hairstyle event. Neither of these players were sent out during the game. These incidents occurred six years before NWSL’s video review was implemented in 2023.

Chicago star forward Ludmila was also popped up for two timeouts last year for putting her hand on the opponent's head and seemingly pulling her hair.

Fischer's suspension marks the second biggest ban for Louisville players over the past month.

Racing Louisville midfielder Ary Borges had a feud with the referee after a 3-3 draw against Portland Thorns on April 27, suspending a total of four games – three games above her automatic suspension.

The NWSL Disciplinary Committee found during its review that Borges pushed the referee during the dispute, resulting in “major game misconduct.”

Borges is eligible to return to his next game against Royal Utah FC Louisville on June 6.
