Horror movies to watch: February 2025 draft picks include “Monkey” and more

Heart-eyed (In the Screen Gem Theater on February 7) – Rom-Com Slasher, Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding, who debuted in time on Valentine's Day, must fight the infamous Heart Eyes Killer, who only has the eyes of a couple. With a first-rate love story and plenty of stings, it's a slight 80s inspired by the slightest, which could be the perfect date night feed. (Click here to read typeComments. .
canyon (February 14 on Apple TV+) – Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy stars in action horror sensation in “Black Phone” and “Sinister” director Scott Derrickson. The two play snipers, guarding the world from the titular canyon between them, even as things get more and more dangerous, sparks fly. Will these two beautiful men fall in love despite the threat of bloodthirsty beasts between them?
monkey (February 21 via neon in the theater) – “Longlegs” director Osgood Perkins returns with a wild, bloody adaptation of Stephen King's short story. The stars of Theo James, Tatiana Maslany and Elijah Wood are killed by a toy monkey terrifying person whose existence is caused by death. Dark Humor is the star of the show, and this fun new gear is perfect for Perkins' stylish eyes.

Bystander (Now found on VOD) – This rape revenge film from Dread Central Centry-Centry-in-The-Centry Editor Mary Beth McAndrews tells the frightening story of a group of young women exploited by Frat Boys, but in A mysterious help took the fight back (and violent) couple. It was a shock to the system and also McAndrews' bold debut. (Read more about the movie here.)
Y2K (Available on VOD now) – Kyle Mooney's comedy/sci-fi/horror mix blends theatre, but it's destined to live long in a family audience. If you missed this doomsday mashup before, now is the time to catch up. (Click here to read typeComments. .
Red Room (Available now on Shudder and VOD) – One of the best horror movies of last year was an examination of the true culture of crime. A mysterious young woman participated in the trial of a man accused of murdering a young woman in the “red room” of the dark web, but her motivation for following the case is almost as creepy as the defendant man. This is a tortuous court drama that will cover you with a chicken skin. (Click here to read typeComments. .

Victorian psychology Virginia Feito (now sold through Liveright) – The rights to Feito's new novel have been sold and set it by Margaret Felley and Thomasin McCann A24 movie starring Thomasin McKenzie. The plot about a young female teacher who can hardly stop her urge to kill, sounds like the evil charming spin of this era.
Old soul By Susan Barker (now available through GP Putnam's Son) – A creepy story about a series of people who died from crossing the road with mysterious women, Buck in a The mysterious novel exudes a ghostly atmosphere prose.
