Paris – Coco Gauff got a great start in the third round of the French Open on Saturday, leading 3-0 just 10 minutes later with 12 of the first 15 points. The rest of the open kits went smoothly as well.

From there, things got even harder, and the 2023 U.S. Open champion fell in just the second set before returning to the right direction and defeating Marie Bouzkova 6-1, 7-6 (3) to reach Week 2 in Roland-Garros for the fifth consecutive year.

Gauff, a 21-year-old from Florida, finished second in Paris in 2022 and finished second in this year's Clay Field Grand Slam Championship.

She will be next on Monday against Ekaterina Alexandrova No. 20, with the winner reaching the quarterfinals.

After only half an hour to claim Saturday in the first set, Goff fought for 75 minutes in Game 2.

That match included eight consecutive serves as the sound of fireworks floated from the nearby football stadium belonging to Paris Saint-Germain to Philippe Chatrier, whose fans gathered at Italy Interly Interly Milan in Italy Interly in Munich on Saturday night, and his fans gathered before the Champions League final on Saturday night.

The second key is Gauff's 30-love 5-3, with Bouzkova's service. Bouzkova needs to be divided into two consecutive points in total to force the third group.

However, Goff was not allowed to do so, often extending points in her excellent court until she found room to win the winner. In a particularly memorable exchange, Goff sprinted barely, climbed to position to block a volley, and then jumped over the crushing above his head.

By the end, Goff had more than twice the winners of 22 to 11 in the second set and also helped by winning games in 11 of her 14 Nets trips.

Gauff is one of the five American women in the fourth round. The others are Jessica Pegula in third place, Madison Keys in seventh place, Amanda Anisimova and Hailey Baptiste in unseeded.

There are still three Americans in the brackets heading to Sunday.

Keys won the Australian Open in January, down 3 match points 5-4 in the final and returned to 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. Key now plays No. 70 Baptiste.

Anisimova met first place Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinals, while Pegula – last year's runner-up in the U.S. Open – faced the French wild-dominated Lois Boisson.
