Atlantic hires Missy Ryan as staff writer

Missy wrote about foreign policy, defense and national security Washington PostShe reports from dozens of countries including Iraq, Ukraine, Libya, Lebanon, Yemen and Afghanistan. She will join Atlantic next month.

Dear everyone,
I'm happy to share the news that Miss Ryan will join Atlantic Next month, as a worker, as part of the ongoing expansion of our national security coverage.
Miss, from us Washington Postknown as one of the best Pentagon journalists working today. She is an authoritative, respected, and a talented and tenacious journalist. Over the past decade, she has formed PostsCoverage of the Ministry of Defense and the State Council. Missy reported 10 Defense Department secretaries, dozens of countries, documented the U.S. counterinsurgency war, news about huge policy changes, and exposed human losses from international conflicts.
Before joining Postsshe spent nine years at Reuters. Her time there included missions as journalists in Iraq, Mexico, Peru and Argentina. Missy reported on the ground of major news developments, including the fall of the Gaddafi regime in Libya, the drug war and political unrest in Latin America, and the war from Afghanistan to Ukraine.
Missy reported in Spanish and Arabic and learned Arabic in Egypt, Lebanon, Yemen, Tunisia and Iraq. Her honors include the New York Press Club Awards political report and selection, becoming an American Press Association fellow and a White House fellow.
