    Astronauts rally in the seventh inning to beat the track and field

    HOUSTON (AP) — Zach Dezenzo home runs and Victor Caratini runs two runs in the seventh inning to help the Houston Astros rally beat the track and field 5-3 on Wednesday.

    Track and field led by 1 when rookie Justin Sterner (1-1) took over as Luis Severino to start seventh place. Dezenzo sent his fourth court at 416th foot to midfield this season to line up it in three innings.

    The second and third-place runners had two knockouts in the inning, when Caratini played to midfield to score.

    Shawn Dubin (2-0) beat two in seventh place in the victory, and Josh Hader scored 14 chances for the ninth-place, with no points in the ninth.

    Winemaker 6, Red Sox 5, 10th round

    Milwaukee (AP) — The victory race car driven by Caleb Durbin’s Sacrifice Fly (Milwaukee), who won the first scan of the season by defeating Boston.

    The winemakers won the second day in a row with an extra win on the second day after Christian Yelich's Grand Slam in Game 10.

    Durbin's late hero game tied up two hits, a three-shot RBI day that included double the doubles, which made Milwaukee the first lead of the day.

    Boston ranked seventh in Wilyer Abreu's 13th home run this season, leading the way in the extra innings when Nick Sogard faced Milwaukee's left-hander Tyler Alexander (3-5).

    Guardian 7, Dodge 4

    Cleveland (AP) — Angel Martínez won five home runs in the eighth inning to beat Homer to defeat the La Dodgers.

    The Dodgers led 4-1, then Lou Trivino gave up Carlos Santana's RBI singles at the bottom of seventh. Nolan Jones ranked him eighth with two singles from Tanner Scott (0-1), followed by Martínez by Alex Vesia’s 394-foot explosion.

    Matt Festa (1-0) ranked eighth and Emmanuel Clase ranked ninth for his 11th save. Guardian saved the third and final game of the Dating Series.

    Light 5, Twins 0

    Tampa, Fla. (AP) – Brandon Lowe and junior Caminero hit a fourth-inning home run, and Drew Rasmussen won a hit percentage in six innings, leading Tampa Bay.

    Lowe leads fourth in his 11th home run. Caminero took his tenth place with Jonathan Aranda.

    Aranda added a RBI single, and Rays scored on the balk too. Lowe, Aranda and Caminero each had two hits. Chandler Simpson stole two bases this season.

    Tiger 4, Giant 3

    Detroit (AP) – Justyn-Henry Malloy hit a single in the fifth inning to help Detroit rally beat San Francisco.

    The American League-leading Tigers swept through three series and ended their home court with a four-game winning streak.

    Detroit produced all the offenses in fifth place with two innings of doubles by Colt Keith and two points by Malloy.

    White Sox 9, Metropolis 4

    NEW YORK (AP) — Andrew Benintendi scored four season-high RBIs and doubled the pace, which gave Chicago a boost to a victory over New York, which blocked three games.

    Benintendi scored two singles in the first inning and tripled his sixth RBI in the sixth. Lenyn Sosa also scored three hits, and Mike Tauchman offered two consecutive doubles for the White Sox, avoiding his seventh defeat this season.

    Brandon Eisert (2-0) was the second of five Chicago pitchers, winning with a 1 1/3 no-hit rate.

    Pirate 10, Rattlesnake 1

    Phoenix (AP) – Paul Skenes dominated the field in more than six points without a division, O'Neil Cruz hit two home runs and Pittsburgh crossed Arizona.

    The Pirates fell from 6-2 with seven runs in the eighth inning, defeating the Rattlers 9-6 on Tuesday night.

    No need to make a comeback with Skenes (4-5) on the mound.

    Last year's NL Rookie of the Year allowed four hits, hitting seven, without leaving in 6 2/3 innings. Skenes started his career by not allowing more than six hits on MLB Record 35.

    Pittsburgh won two-thirds of the championship from Arizona, winning the second game in its first road series since April 22-24 against the Los Angeles Angels.

    Marlin 10, Padres 8

    San Diego (AP) – Agustín Ramírez's first four-hit match in his career, including home runs and Miami's defeat of San Diego.

    Ramírez scored 4 points and 5 with 4 RBIs and two scores. Eric Wagaman and Otto Lopez added three hits, and Lopez hit three home runs. Javier Sanoja hit two doubles.

    Ronny Henriquez (3-1) won two games, while Calvin Faucher scored his third save. Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara lasted four innings and gave up on six runs. He lost his first seven games. The 2022 Al Cy Young champion missed all the titles last season after Tommy John's surgery.

    Rescuer Jason Adam (5-1) lost after Padres blew up five games the day after he rebounded from a six-inning deficit.

    Cardinal 6, Orioles 4

    BALTIMORE (AP) — Brendan Donovan hit two home runs, Masyn Winn hit four hits, and St. Louis beat Baltimore in the wet Camden Yards.

    St. Louis trailed 3-0 in the second and 4-2 in the fourth before returning to win the three-game decision showdown.

    Jordan Walker’s two-shot singles provided the Cardinal with their first two runs, while Donovan led 5-4 with St. Louis on his fifth time.

    Winn scored for the third time in a doubles match with Iván Herrera in seventh place.

    Kansas City, Mo. (AP) — Noah Cameron went into seventh place, spreading six singles, and Kansas City beat Cincinnati to save the final game of the series.

    Cameron (2-1) allowed 6 hits and two strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.

    Maikel Garcia singled out of one point in Game 4, extending his winning streak to 13 games before finishing first place from Drew Waters’ deflected single.

    In Game 5, John Rave doubled to the right, collecting his first major league hit percentage when Bobby Witt Jr.

    Witt added insurance for the 7th inning of the sacrifice flies.

    Carlos Estévez beat his 15th time at two quarters.

    Bear 2, Rocky Mountains 1

    CHICAGO (AP) — Pete Crow-Armstrong hit his 15th home run, Matthew Boyd dropped four goals in six innings, while Chicago won Colorado for the fourth straight time.

    Seiya Suzuki doubled in one game, and rookie Matt Shaw scored two hits for NL Central leaders, who won 10 of 12.

    Boyd (5-2) allowed only one future run, hitting eight without leaving. Three reliefists followed, Daniel Palencia earned the ninth perfect pitch on his fourth save.

    Tyler Freeman sacrificed flies for the Rockies, which lost its fifth time to 9-47, the worst record in the Grand Slam.

    Bluebird 2, Ranger 0

    ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Bo Bichette hit a tough, two-home run in the ninth inning, with five Toronto pitchers combined in one goal, while Blue Jays beat Texas.

    Bichette, who exited the starting lineup due to soreness in his lower back, hit a 0-1 fastball from Jacob Webb (2-3), with two outs on the left wall.

    Brendon Little (3-0), the fourth Bluebird pitcher, hit his only two batsmen. Jeff Hoffman then took his 12th steal in Game 12 of ninth, with 15 chances to end Toronto's third elimination this season.

    The Rangers were considered scoreless for the seventh time, and their only hot character was a sharp single in the first inning by Josh Smith. He left twice.

    Paxton Schultz beat four points and allowed the only hit when he ranked 2 2/3 innings in Toronto's first major league start. Eric Lauer eliminated four in 3 1/3 innings and Braydon Fisher had two punches in one of his innings.

    National 9, Sailor 0

    SEATTLE (AP) — Robert Hassell III scored three hits and two RBIs, including his first major league home run, and James Wood also went deeper with Washington’s Seattle route.

    Luis García Jr. and Josh Bell rolled out home runs in a row to support Trevor Williams, who threw out six innings. Bale finished three hits and Wood drove in three games.

    Hassell played in Game 6, hitting a solo game 7-0 in the eighth. Since its debut last Thursday, the touted rookie has started night-time hitting.118 (2-1).

    The 23-year-old Hassell was selected as San Diego by San Diego in 2020 and traded to Washington in a blockbuster deal on the final deadline in August 2022, along with Wood, CJ Abrams and Mackenzie Gore (Juan Soto) and Bell.

    ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – Clarke Schmidt allowed four hits in six innings, with New York running for the first time in a victory over Los Angeles.

    Schmidt (2-2) hit four games and walked one in a 99 effort to help the Yankees complete three games and win the ninth victory in 10 games.

    Ian Hamilton threw 1 2/3 innings, Tim Hill took the final inning from eighth, and Mark Leiter Jr.

    In the eight-game winning streak from May 16 to 23, the Angels averaged 7.6 in eight-game winning streaks, scoring only five shots in the last five games – all losses.

    Yusei Kikuchi (1-5) scored four hits in five innings, hitting four innings and walking five innings. He shot 93 goals and went on strike 51 times.
