Aston Villa 1-0 Fulham
Youri Tielemans' first half header was enough to win Aston Villa to beat Fulham 1-0 to keep their hopes of Champions League football alive next season.
Villa Park Pitch's standout Tiemans took the stage at the corner of John McGinn's 12th minute, with Nottingham Forest and Chelsea improving their points as Uniai Emery's team played the weekend.
Ollie Watkins turned down Villa's lead and a great opportunity to ease the family nerve at the beginning of the second half until a few minutes later, Ryan Sessegnon's volley flashed over Emi Martinez.
However, since Sesegnon's hand had obviously controlled the ball with his hand after finding the net, it was correctly ruled out.
Villa then managed the second half skillfully, with Harrison Reed being forced to have calf problems, only 10 minutes of players were allowed to play in the final 10 minutes, and only 10 minutes of players had just appeared, and Marco Silva had used all the alternatives.
Despite the crossbars being hit by Sub Donyell Malen during injury time, Villa suffered a victory in consecutive league losses and the FA Cup semifinals, Fulham was already in the air next season and was caught in the victory.
The manager said…
Villa owner Unai Emery:
“If we didn't win today, please forget completely. Today, we're more or less close to Europe. Wow, wonderful, excellent. This is the best gift we can get after the Europa League or the Champions League.
“Champions League, OK, we're going to try to get it, but we're not contenders. We're not the favorite because we have Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle in front of us.
“But we're going to fight for it – Europe, hopefully we can fight for the Champions League.”
Fulham boss Marco Silva:
“The final, the final, the final. This afternoon is very important for both teams, they need three points, our goal is clear, trying to reduce the points between the two sides, it is impossible.
“They won the game. Now, we have to look for the next three games, and most importantly the next game against Everton.
“When you lose a game, it’s most important for us to be, with the goal we set, it’s always hard to accept it.
“We lost the game, and it was a sad moment for us. But now, in eight days, we have another game to play and it's very important for us to get three points.”
