Acaden Lewis, the top point guard in the 2025 class, told ESPN that he has committed to Villanova.

“The staff I ended up getting was Nova,” Lewis told ESPN on Thursday. “We have had a relationship since sophomore year, when I first moved to Sidwell. Kevin Willard and his staff were the first senior coaches to recruit me in Maryland. I have a great relationship with them and have a huge trust, and I will thrive and they will make me me.”

Lewis also chose Villanova after visiting St. John, Georgia and Miami. He had previously worked in Kentucky and then chose to reopen the recruitment on April 10.

“I want to play, I want to put pressure on my shoulders and my teammates to meet and meet challenges,” Lewis said. “Nova is a historic plan based on victory and I want to be part of the revival.”

Washington, D.C. Gatorade Player of the Year in 2024, Sidwell Friends School product is ESPN's No. 7 point guard in its 2025 high school class. Lewis, considered one of the best tour operators in the class, scored Nike Eybl's assists last season with a 6.1 average, scoring 6.1 points on Nike Eybl's assists, adding 16.7 points and 4.9 rebounds to the Durant team.

Lewis is a major addition to Villanova and is needed to a large extent. He joins Devin Askew (Long Beach), Bryce Lindsay (James Madison), Zion Stanford (Temple), Malaki Palmer (Maryland), Duke Brennan (Grand Canyon) and Braden Pierce (Maryland), and freshman Nico Onyekwere. Villanova retains power forward Matthew Hodge, a four-star recruit in the high school class in 2024, who was forced to redshirt last season due to academic failure.

Eight players in the roster last season entered the NCAA transfer portal, with the team's top two scorers exhausting their qualifications in Eric Dixon and Wooga Poplar.

Willard took over as head coach of Villanova on March 30 after a successful season in Maryland, ending up losing 16 times to ultimate national champion Florida. He replaced Kyle Neptune, who was fired after missing the NCAA Championship in the first three seasons.
