NEW YORK – A giant Schnauzer named Monty won the top award at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Tuesday night.
Monty's competitions include a Bichon Frisé named Neal, Skye Terrier named Archer, a second-place runner-up named Whippet and Reply named Bourbon, also known as Comet's Shih Tzu, who was previously a finalist.
Also a German Shepherd named Mercedes, he appeared for the second time last year, while the British Springer Spaniel was Freddie. Then there was the giant Schnauzer Monty advanced to the final for the third consecutive year and won a big show at the giant American Kennel Club in December.
They all competed in the best of the performance competition at Madison Square Garden.
Westminster's victory is considered the most prestigious award in the American dog show. Depending on the ideal degree of its breed, each dog can be judged by its degree of matching.
Winners receive trophys, ribbons and bragging rights, but no cash rewards.
Every dog in Westminster is a champion, but they are also home pets. Some also work in treatment, search or other dog jobs.
“A good German Shepherd is a universal dog,” said Sheree Moses Combs, a joint trainer and co-owner in Vodasville, West Virginia. Some of her pups have become the service of injured veterans, she said. dog.
“The dog show is fun, but that's the whole purpose of our breed,” she said.
Big Dog spent a day in Westminster Tuesday when the “work” breeds took turns. For example, first round rival Brina is a 158-pound Naples fighter.
“Since I was 12 years old, I was shocked by this breed,” said owner Dr. Yves Belmont.
With its size, jowly head and guarding history, the breed was developed. But Belmont currently has several people in his family’s Atlanta-area home, and he says his intelligence has also impressed him.

A trip to Westminster reminds dog breeds, even just in purebreds. On the same day, Brina was in the competition and Tyra's bulldog, Tyra Tyra, also hit her stuff. She is officially called the top model of GCH CH RNR, named after the fashion model Tyra Banks.
It's “a puppy, but they always make you smile,” said Jescica Harrison, owner and co-inviter. When asked about 2-year-old Tyra falling on a prank instrument Harrison smiled as he went up the place, “It must be nine.”
“You can't be upset with them because they're so cute.” Terra rolled back and rubbed her belly from a passerby in Javits Center, which is the venue for the first round of judgments.
No matter which dog wins the trophy in Westminster, others score in the crowd.
On two nights in the semifinals, the audience shouted the breed and names of the canine rivals, as if they were for a professional team called Garden Home, the NBA's NBA New York Knicks and the NHL's New York Rangers .
“Love you, clumsy!” someone shouted to a Beijinger named Lumpy, whose gait won laughter for his gait.

The arena burst into cheers from a golden hound named Tuffy, a representative of a popular breed that has never won. Xoloitzcuintli's Calaco received great applause for his performance, which also made him recognized by the judge. Xoloitzcuintlis (pronounced shhoh-loh-eeets-kween'tlees) is a hairless dog with deep roots in Mexico.
A doberman's plaza named Penny also gained audience recognition. Despite her dignity, centralized appearance, a penny is still “mush”, Theresa Connors-chan, a breeder and co-owner of Ontario, Canada, said earlier in the day.
Westminster also held Saturday’s Agility and Obedience Championship. The Agility Award won a Border Collie named Vanish and obeyed an Australian Shepherd named Willie.
