The former race of the world contestant Sam Gardiner died after the crash.
Greater Manchester police said the 24-year-old had been driving at the A34 near Manchester on Monday night when his car left the road and landed in front.
His family said in a recent statement that he was the only person in the car and was taken to the hospital and died Thursday from injuries.
Landscape gardener appeared with his mother Joe in the BBC's second series, which aired in 2020.

They can’t play in the last stop after they run out of money, but Sam describes it as a “life-changing” experience.
While filming for the BBC series, Sam said: “Mom and I are so close – we often think or say the same thing.
“She traveled a lot in her life, so I thought it was fun to do it with her.”
“Pure Sunshine in Human Form”
In a statement issued by family members, Sam's parents, Joe and Andrew, said they “had been destroyed.”
They added: “Sam left us too early, and although the words never completely capture the light, joy and energy he brought into our lives, we insisted on the memories that made him so special.”
Sam's parents said he was “worshiped by his family” and described him as “loyal, fun and strongly protected.”
They added matches around the world, “to open Sam's eyes to the miracle of adventure.”

“What you see is what you get. Sam loves gardening, animals and physical exercise,” Sam's uncle Jonny Gray told the BBC.
Mr Gray said his sister Joe and Sam had a “special relationship” and was “a huge sensation in the show”, adding: “The public really likes them.”
Emon Choudhury won the second series with his nephew Jamiul, who posted on social media that Sam was “the pure sunshine of human form” and that “kindness is a beacon for a man who has the honor to cross his path.”
He added that Sam and his mother “show us full life, strong love, and the meaning of every moment of heart”.
“Travel Transformation”
In a statement, a global game spokesperson said: “Everyone who works with him, and in fact everyone who watches Sam can see how valuable and transformative the trip was for him and his mom Joe.
“Sam welcomed the seven-week trip with a spirit, love and determination that allowed the two to enjoy the adventures of Mexico and made the audience fall in love with them, and therefore their special bond.
“Sam and Joe have been an integral part of the competition around the world since filming and representing us all from the BBC, production and other actors, we want to express our deepest condolences to his parents, Andrew and Joe; his brothers William and Charlie;
According to his uncle, Sam recently worked on the West Coast of Scotland and headed to Stockport, Greater Manchester, to attend a family birthday celebration earlier this week.
The family demanded privacy and grief over his death.
