The body found in the Long Island swimming pool may be a suspect in the escape murder

Authorities believe the body found in the swimming pool of the Long Island homeowner may have been a fugitive who evaded his capture for months.

The Suffolk County Police Department (SCPD) confirmed to Fox News Digital that East Shoreham, New York, found a male body in East Shoreham, New York, when she opened the summer pool this season.

Authorities said the unnamed homeowner was removing the protective cover from his swimming pool when he saw the body.

The corpse belongs to 23-year-old Matthew Zoll, who was wanted after he allegedly killed his father in November 2024, SCPD said.

The Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the identity and cause of death.

SCPD confirms that the human body belongs to Zoll is very likely. It was discovered that the man was not wearing shoes, wearing a costume similar to the last time he wore Zoll.

The property where the body was found was also located near the scene of the bicycle crash on the night of the murder, involving Zoll.

Police alleged in a November press conference that Matthew stabbed his father, Joseph Zoll, 61, on November 9, 2024, in New York's Rocky Point.

He then tried to escape from the scene with an SUV, but he bumped it near the East Shorem home where the body was found.

Police description Matthew Zoll is a white male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 150 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes.

Police did not disclose the motive in the 2024 killing, but have been searching for the 23-year-old suspect since then.
