Florida sheriff said law enforcement is “waiting” to assist the Trump administration in immigration enforcement, but fears a lack of capacity for detention.

Fox News Digital talks with Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd about President Donald Trump's current status of immigration repression.

“When President Trump started from the worst, he heard loud and clear voices, let's take these illegal foreigners out of the country,” Judd said.

However, the sheriff pointed to an important bottleneck: the lack of federal capacity to detain immigrants, despite limited resources with ice, despite being arrested, “arrested, “immigrants (immigrants) back on the street.”

Judd noted that the lack of possession facilities and complications caused by federal rules that usually prevent local prisons from being released from local custody for more than 48 hours unless the prison allows longer detention under federal authorities in the Intergovernmental Service Agreement (IGSA).

“You know, if we have criminal charges, the county jail can keep them (immigrants) (immigrants) short-term, but we can’t hold them for a long time,” he said. “Once the federal government recognizes that we are helping them, we are very willing to do this with the federal government — they are not helping us.”

Ice makes the major action to detain illegal immigrants in the blue state

As the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) becomes the first country in the United States to train and deploy soldiers under the Federal 287(g) agreement, additional detention space and resources are needed, which authorizes designated state officials to work with federal agents to enforce immigration laws.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said the initiative is already fruitful and believes it can serve as a blueprint for states other states seek to take Immigration law enforcement Your own hands.

Judd called for federal executive action, saying: “The president is the only one who can break this logjam.”

Sunshine State is ready to implement practical solutions, such as establishing temporary “soft-sided housing” for temporary detainees with hurricane emergency shelter.

“We are eager to achieve this,” he said. “The federal government does not have infrastructure that holds infrastructure and is unwilling to pay when we provide infrastructure.” ”

Judd defended the ice workers, acknowledging their efforts, despite his description of the succession limitations of the former Biden administration.

“But they are limited,” he said. “They are severely limited because they are operating using the resources left by the Biden administration. The Biden administration is not trying to expel people. They are importing people.”

The sheriff said a stricter detention policy would be a deterrent for immigration.
