Jimmy Kimmel gets emotional over LA fires, slams Trump's response as 'disgusting'
ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel delivered an emotional opening monologue Monday about the Los Angeles fires, while also criticizing President-elect Donald Trump's “disgusting” response to the disaster.
A teary-eyed Kimmel, who is broadcasting from Los Angeles, returned to the airwaves for the first time since the fires broke out and discussed how the fires have affected the city and the filming of his show, saying: “This is a time in L.A. It's been a very scary, stressful, very strange week – where we work, where we live, where our kids go to school, we were back in our studio and we had to evacuate on Wednesday.”
After speaking of the horrific impact the fire had on the city, Kimmel spoke of the unity the disaster had brought about, saying: “It's also been a beautiful experience in many ways because once again, we're “Seeing our fellow citizens come together to support each other, with people who have lost their homes volunteering in parking lots to help others who have lost their homes.”

Kimmel then took the opportunity to slam Trump's response to the fires, saying: “I don't want to talk about all the vile, despicable things that our so-called future president and his bunch of scumbags chose to say during our darkest and most horrific time. Irresponsible and stupid thing to do.” “
“The fact that they chose to attack our firefighters, who are clearly not white enough to put their lives on the line for us, is disgusting, but not surprising. Instead, I want to focus on thanking those men and women,” Kimmel said.
The late-night host went on to praise the firefighters who worked to extinguish the blaze, saying: “Our firefighters from Los Angeles were the first on the scene and didn't hesitate. They put it out the best they could.” He then thanked the firefighters from Contributions from other firefighters and emergency personnel across the country and around the world.

I also Thanks to our local journalists for reminding us how important local TV, radio and newspapers are, especially in times like these.”
