    Dear everyone,

I'm writing this letter to share the news that several great writers have joined Atlantic. Caity Weaver joins us as staff writer, and Jonathan Lemire and Alex Reisner join us as staff writers.

First up is Katie. As many of you no doubt know, because you read magazines (I hope), Katie is one of the most formidable nonfiction writers of her generation. She's creative, adventurous, and incredibly funny, qualities that show up time and time again in her stories – whether it's her meeting Flo, the progressive insurance lady, or her meeting a progressive named Flo Insurance lady. On a mission to find Tom Cruise; or over endless appetizers at TGI Friday's, Katie worked tirelessly on her stories, and she always followed them to logical (and often illogical) conclusion. (Her interests also include glitter and pennies, both of which I highly recommend.) Katie joins us The New York Times Magazine.

Next, I'm excited to share that Jonathan Lemire has joined us as a staff writer focusing on the White House and national politics. Jonathan is an energetic and relentless reporter, driven by scoops but also an expert at explaining what they mean. Jonathan's contribution will be invaluable as we continue to focus increasingly on report-driven coverage from the incoming administration. In addition to writing for us, Jonathan is good morning joe until recently PoliticoWhite House Bureau Chief. Prior to that, he worked at the Associated Press and new york daily news. So is he The Big Lie: Electoral Chaos, Political Opportunism, and the State of American Politics Post-2020.

Finally, I'm excited to tell you that Alex Reisner will also be a contributing writer. Alex has done a fantastic job for us over the past two years, focusing his programming and reporting skills on the area of large (and largely under-understood) artificial intelligence training databases. Alex persisted and exposed which pirated books were used to train some of the most compelling artificial intelligence models. He also worked with us to build a searchable database so writers can see how their work is being used without their consent. (Report tip from Alex Atlantic Works by Margaret Atwood and Stephen King. ) recently revealed the inner workings of the Hollywood Writing Database.

atlantic monthly Recently announced staff writer hire Ashley Parker and Michael Schererstarting this week. Other writers joining atlantic monthly The past few months have included Christine Brown, Jonathan Chait, Nicholas Flocco, Sean Harrisand Sierra Love; and contributing writers Danielle Allen and Robert Kagan.
