Scottie Scheffler always seems comfortable on the golf course, but it was pure happiness to attend CJ for Byron Nelson in his hometown of TPC Craig Ranch.

Scheffler beat the game with 31 in the four-day game and won the game in another 63 below 63, the same result he had on the scorecard on Friday.

But he had a chance to be in the history of Sunday's 18th Green PGA Tour when he watched a birdie putt for a game below 32. Only Justin Thomas (2017) and Ludvig Åberg (2023) have had less than 31 times in the past 31 times.

Schaffler led 10 strokes at some point in this tournament, barely missed the history-created putts and hit the PAR to win, with a salary of up to $1,782,000.

However, he does have some history as his eight-shot victory was the biggest ever in the tournament.

Scheffler, the first Dallas-area high school graduate to win Byron Nelson since 2007, started a crazi start when he scored under 61 in his first round Thursday. He followed him Friday at the age of 63 and despite only 66 shots on Saturday, Sunday's eight-shot lead almost felt like a breeze as he stepped into the final 18 holes.

Erik van Rooyen (under 23), Sam Stevens (under 20) and another Dallas native, Jordan Spieth (under 19), trailed Scheffler.

“This game means a lot to me,” Schaffler told CBS Radio after the victory. “This is my first start as a professional 11 years ago and I let my sister caddy work hard. … It feels like a life of hard work and sacrifice.

Scheffler was only 17 when he made his debut in 2014 at Byron Nelson.

It wasn't just a huge win for the world's number one golfer, but it was also the perfect moment for his next scheduled event in his second Grand Slam of the season.

The PGA Championship held by Scheffler at PGA Hollow in the PGA Tour will be a match for the PGA Tour, and he hopes to win the game for the first time in his career. His best result was in 2023, when he tied for second place.

Last year’s game was also a risk for Schaffler as he was arrested at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, a legend that shocked the sports world. The charges were eventually dropped, but Scheffler's experience is that this professional experience will always be remembered.

The world’s No. 1 golfer hopes to focus on lifting the trophy this time, and he’s ready to do so after he’s having a great show at home this week.
