TALGA Awards EPCM Awards Wally's Vittangi Graphite Project Contract in Sweden
Battery materials and technology company Talga Group has appointed engineering services company Worley to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the Swedish Vittangi Graphite Anode project.
A non-binding letter of intent (LOI) has been signed between Talga and Worley, outlining the approach to binding EPCM contracts, depending on the positive final investment decision (FID) of the Talga board.
LOI specifies critical workflows and consistency to commercial terms, which will expire on April 10, 2026 unless extended to each other.
The Targa Board of Directors is expected to approve the FID of the Vittangi Anode project after completing key milestones, including customer supply agreements and financing structures.
“This partnership marks an important milestone in Talga's mission to be a leading sustainable anode producer in Europe, combining Worley's engineering excellence with Talga's integrated, low-emission graphite solutions,” said Martin Phillips, CEO of Talga.
“Their expertise will complement the TALGA project delivery team and we look forward to working together to finalize pre-execution activities.”
Since 2019, Worley has participated in the Vittangi Anode project, providing engineering services for various research stages.
Furthermore, Worley’s ability to promote financing solutions plays a crucial role in supporting the funding of the project.
The project has received a grant of €70 million (USD 79.7 million) from the EU Innovation Fund and received a debt consortium anchored by the Euro 150 million cornerstone investment from the Euro Investment Bank.
Recently, the graphite mine in Talga has gained strategic project status under the EU’s Key Raw Materials Act and the battery anode factory has gained that status under the EU’s Net Zero Industry Act. These names enhance the importance of the project to the European battery supply chain.
Chris Ashton, CEO of Worley, said: “The agreement reflects our shared vision and commitment to delivering innovative, future-focused sustainable solutions. The global teams we support the project bring deep technical knowledge and experience to key minerals and benefits to the battery supply chain in Europe.”
In October 2024, Talga Group provided exploitation concessions for its Vittangi Anode Project in the southern Nunasvaara.
“The EPCM contract awarded by the Talga Awards EPCM to the Swedish Vittangi Graphite Project” was originally created and published by GlobalData-owned brand Mining Technology.
